This was the first sweet potato pie I ever made and I was surprised at how good it was. Hard for a beginner to mess up. I doubled the recipe for two pies. I would use next time slightly less sugar and use condensed milk instead of regular. This time I used half and half. My wife even liked it and she doesn't like sweets that much!

Added 1/4 tsp ground cloves to original recipe. Delicious! And I don't even like sweet potato pie. :-)

It was my first time baking and it was a success. I made 3 pies and they came out great. Instead of 1 cup white sugar, I did only half white and the other half brown sugar.

This is the best pie I have ever tasted and I don't like pie nor sweet potatoes! The only thing I change is upping the cinnamon and nutmeg to 1 teaspoon each because I like a spicier dessert.....I make this every chance I get and this has replaced our traditional pumpkin pie!

My DH wanted a sweet potato pie for thanksgiving, I found this recipe, and all the good reviews. wanted to test it out before thanksgiving. My sweet potatoes from the garden rotted, so I used the canned as another reviewer did. EXCELLENT. I am not the best pie maker, many don't seem to set up right, this was perfect, even the kids who dislike sweet poato enjoyed it. I am not a pie fan, but the taste was very unique. cut a small piece, and had to get another small piece. I found a keeper here thanks so much

This is very delicious.. I followed others recommendation by using 1/2 cup of brown sugar instead of 1 cup of white sugar. I also added 1 tbsp of corn starch. I think I like this pie better than pumpkin pie!

Pre-test before the big day (Thanksgiving)!Absolutely delicious! My husband grew up in the south on his mother's home cooking and his exact words were "this taste like my mommas!" It is a slightly loose, however, setting overnight it was just fine! So you have to wait (hard to do) for it to firm up. I used 3 medium sweet potatos. I've tried many, many recipes over the years and this by far is the best! I'm done looking for the perfect recipe for SP pie! I've found it!

My first sweet potato pie ever and it was DELICIOUS! Extremely pleased with this recipe. Some advice for those that found it too runny: 1) I added two pounds of sweet potato (two medium/large ones) 2) I did not boil the sweet potatoes (which adds water to it). Wrapped mine with foil and baked in the oven for 65 min at 400F. Gave it a much richer flavor. And the resulting consistency was perfect. Also, I made my in a 10" tart pan - the presentation was gorgeous! And the directions didn't have to be changed at all (bake time and temp were still okay).

I find half and half or cream better than milk (perhaps not as good for us, that's understood). This recipe was quite good but I did use half and half.

This pie was quite good but I look forward to trying another reviewer's suggestions. I really want a sweet potate pie that sets itself apart from pumpkin pie; I think Melis' suggestions will help.

I would add a half teaspoon of lemon extract, along with adding chopped sweet potato (hand stirred) after mixing all ingredients...To give it body...That's how I make my original sweet potato pie.

Very good. I added an extra egg, 1/4tea ginger powder, 1/4 cloves and 1/2 fresh lemon juice. I also added mini marshmallows the last 10 minutes and it came out delicious.

First time making a Sweet Potato Pie and am quite happy with it. My husband, who when he saw the boiled sweet potato said it didn't seem appealing, liked it and took some to work today. As I can't get pumpkin or canned pumpkin where I live in Sweden, this will do the trick!

Delicious! It was my first time making sweet potato pie, and this recipe was fantastic! Instead of using 1 cup white sugar I used 1/2 cup brown sugar. I don't like my desserts too sweet. I also used only 1/4 cup of butter instead of 1/2 cup. It turned out to be just right for me!
