Very tasty, however, the texture was a bit rubbery, and the recipe did not serve 16 people..it was more like 12.

I expected this recipe to be the tops with all the rave reviews but I honestly found it to be a bit bland. I followed it as written except I used walnuts instead of pecans since thats what I had. For anyone who makes this after me, I recommend following some of the others advice and adding maply syrup or sweetened condensed milk. I will try that next time and it definitely needs a little kick to heighten the flavor.

As other reviewers I used 1/2 C sugar and added some cinnamon. I tend to usually not like sweet potatoe casseroles because they're way too sweet, but this with reduction of the sugar was very good and my guest all said they liked the less sweet version. The topping was very good.

I made this for Thanksgiving and my family thought it was tasty. All agreed the topping would have been better with either plain marshmallows or a combination of the two. I substituted 1/2 c. brown sugar for the 1 c. of white sugar. I just can't bring myself to use that much white sugar in sweet potatoes. I will make this again with modifications.

I made this for Christmas dinner and my family loved it. They took leftovers home and called me upset when it was all gone! I, like others baked the sweet potatoes and used less sugar and added marshmallows (my brother's favorite) to the top.

This recipe went over very well with my family for Thanksgiving. I only made a few modifications out of personal preference: I used 1/2 cup white sugar instead of one whole cup since it also has brown sugar and added 1 tsp. cinnamon & 1/2 tsp. nutmeg & 3T. of orange juice.

This was really good, but next time I don't think I will put as much sugar in it. It tasted a lot like dessert.

This recipe was really easy and it tasted really good, so a definite keeper in our house. Be careful with the sugar though - be sure to add only the white sugar to the potato mash and reserve the brown sugar for the strudel on top. The recipe doesn't clarify that and I added the brown sugar to the potato mixture and it was too sweet. My own fault, but just something to watch out for!

Excellent and easy...I added a bit of cinnamon to the topping and used walnuts that I had on hand. It took a bit longer than 25 minutes but was well worth it.

This is a great recipe with a few changes. I only used 1/3 cup sugar in the mashed sweet potatoes & it was as sweet as pie. I used soy milk and seasoned the potato mixture with 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg. I roasted 6 orange "yam"-type sweet potatoes and had a litte extra potato left over. I will make this again, but will make it lighter by reducing the amount of butter. It was great - like a cross between pumpkin and pecan pie.

I followed the recipe and reduced the sugar per the suggestion of several others. I actually did not enjoy this recipe. It was easy to make, but there was no wow factor to it for me. I was expecting more of a dessert flavor, instead it was rather bland, and the topping was not cohesive, it seemed like it's own separate afterthought. In the future I will serve sweet potatoes baked and topped with butter, or try a more decadant recipe that calls for maple syrup and marshmallows.
