I love the heartiness of this soup...a wonderful comfort dish! I sauteed the veggies in oil instead of butter and would probably add some more spice next time. It didn't have quite the "kick" I would have liked. It reminded me of an Indian dahl, so I'm also wondering what curry powder or turmeric would do?--but since I'm a beginning cook, I may not mess with a good thing!

Delicious, quick, easy. I served it with a baguette and a bowl of olive oil and balsamic vinegar for dipping. I wouldnt change anything about the recipe. I didnt find it necessary to add the yogurt.

Really good soup. Very different. I made the recipe as directed except I substituted sour cream for the yogurt (what I had on hand). I needed to add a bit of extra water after the puree to get a better consistency. The balance of spices and flavors is really nice. No one flavor overpowers the others but everything's in there. My husband and I really liked it.

Very tasty, even without the yogurt. I didn't have any chili powder, so I doubled the paprika. I also used an immersion blender to puree it, which gave the soup a wonderful texture, and was very easy.

I love thick soups and hate chunks, so this is the soup for me. The flavour is wonderful and it's great with either the yogurt or the feta on top, though I prefer feta. Great with home made bread as a side. It's also so filling that you don't need meat.

This is an excellent, easy to prepare recipe. I actually had everything in my kitchen and had fresh soup ready for my hockey players in 45 minutes. Even my picky 8-year old ate it without complaint! That's saying something!

This soup is sooooo great! I made it vegan by using olive oil instead of butter and also omitted the yogurt. I also cut salt by using low-sodium broth, and found that I did not need to add salt to season when it was done. Lovely, hearty, and filling. I really liked the mild sweetness with a bit of heat.

Definitely needs the plain yogurt to set it off. Is a heavy soup. Good for the winter.

This was so good that I didn't want anyone else to eat it but me! I made it for my roommates and they all raved. I made it just like the recipe, and served it with yogurt and a sprinkle of paprika for a nice look Nest time I make it I might add more apple though. It would probably bee great with sour cream too. I also served them with a side of grilled polenta slices, I feel like the soup would be good with something crunchy to eat along with it. All in all I will definitely be making this again.

I made a three serving portion of this recipe and think it is fantastic. I enjoy thick creamy soups and appreciate it's healthy ingredients. The only two modifications I made was to omit the salt because I used two vegetable boullian cubes to create the vegetable broth, and I used some variety of brown lentils. A very inexpensive and tasty dish.

This soup is delicious! Husband who doesn't like carrots or sweet potatoes really enjoyed this recipe. I added a bit more seasoning at the end (not much) and used a little more apple, but followed the recipe as stated. It is very easy to make - just cut up vegetables & apples and boil until mushy. A hand blender makes it even easier. I added a good amount of water when blending to thin it out a bit... but the soup remained flavorful. This makes a wonderful fall or winter meal.

Love this recipe...so unique by adding the apple. I didn't have red lentils so I used green and I added some red chillies to give it an extra kick. It is very comforting and filing. Thanks!
