I made sweet potato biscuits similar to these, and they turned out really well. My recipe didn't use shortening but I think it did call for butter instead. Regardless, these biscuits go great with tomato soup and a light salad.

Excellent! I didn't use the canned potatoes, as I was looking to us up some leftover mashed sweet potatoes. My sweet potato was seasoned with cinnamon, cloves and a bit of pepper, we enjoyed those flavors in this biscuit.

These make perfectly moist biscuits that BEG for cinnamon butter. I added a pinch of allspice and some cinnamon to the dough. Delicious!

I made these biscuits for the first time for this Mother's Day (a daunting task considering my grandmother is the master biscuit-maker). I think next time I will add a little sugar and perhaps some cinnamon or nutmeg. I thought the biscuits were a little chewy as well, but I used a tad more milk than the recipe required to get the dough to form and probably kneaded them a bit too much. Other than that, I thought the recipe was pretty good!

I will definately make these often! These biscuits were very good and my family was glad they didn't actually taste like sweet potatoes. The only thing to indicate the presence of sweet taters was the orange color! I didn't have milk, so I used evaporated milk and that was just fine. My only complaint, and this is NOT the fault of the recipe, is that they are a teeny-tiny-TINY bit chewy. I suspect that's just because of the potaotes.
