Terrific recipe! I also added some green beans and was beans which I had on hand. A lovely change to the usual baked beans.

LOVE this recipe. I have made it 3x and get RAVE reviews. I make it almost exactly as recipe says except I had no clue about Blackeye peas so I use Butter Beans. Everyone LOVES this recipe. Also, I do everything in the one pan and when it is hot then transfer to a crockpot.

I make a version of this recipe that uses 1 can of butter beans instead of black eyed peas. Also if you are in a hurry you can bake this at 350 degrees for one hour covered, then transfer to crock pot and keep on warm till the rest of dinner is ready. Also,keep the onions in rings...looks prettier!
