I wasn't sure how my family would like this bread. When I was making it, it seemed so heavy but it actually turned out wonderfully moist, with a crunchier outer shell...and delicious! My cousin (who hates rye bread even had to taste it when it came out of the oven....and she loved it and so did all of the kids! I will definitely use this recipe again. I am even going to make it to use in my stuffing recipe. Mmmm.

Delicious! I can't stop eating this. I don't always like rye breads, but I love this one. It's a bit sweet and nutty from the molasses and the rye flour but still rises. It's a bit dense, but rye bread is supposed to be--I'd add more yeast if I wanted it to rise more. These are pretty small loaves, the size restaurants might slice up and put in a bread basket on the table. Wonderful by itself but good with butter too. I made the dough itself in my bread machine, then shaped and let rise again and baked as directed. I don't usually like baking with molasses--it's so sticky and messy (I feel the same way about honey but have learned to deal bc it is in so many of my beloved recipes) but this bread makes it worthwile! Thanks so much for sharing. I'll make this again.
