I changed the sugar to 1 T honey, the baking powder to 1 T, the cream of tartar to 1/2 tsp, the butter to 1/4 cup applesauce and 1/2 cup oil. Due to my modifications, these were like drop biscuits. They spread quite a bit during the baking! I baked these for 15 mins at 400. Great flavor!

I looked for a biscuit recipe for BNG (biscuits-n-gravy) and used this one. It's really good. Really easy to make. My husband said they're the best biscuits ever. Has a slight crunch from the corn meal which I enjoyed. I used 1/2 the sugar. I shared this on fb. Yum! It's a must for sure.

These were a nice change from a plain biscuit. I followed the recipe exactly, and they came out very light and had a nice corn taste. I made half a recipe, which made a baking sheet full of biscuits.

I was looking for a biscuit recipe to go with sausage gravy and this worked. I did hower added an additional 1/4 cup flour and reduced the sugar by 1/2 teaspoon. This was a nice dense but somehow airy biscuit that was perfect to top off with gravy. Good by itself too. Like the cornmeal in it to give unexpected crunch. I will make this again.

The recipe itself is all right. I cut the sugar down considerally, to about 1 tsp and increased the salt to 3/4 tsp. To me, with the original measurements it seemed the biscuit would be more of a sweet breakfast biscuit and I was looking for a new biscuits-n-gravy staple :). Cornmeal gives it a nice touch. Also, the dough was too sticky so I kneaded in more flour. My boyfriend insists there needs to be more cornmeal, less flour. Good basic recipe though!
