I have made this recipe for years and my family LOVES it. I just happened upon to find the recipe listed here today when I was looking for other slow cooker recipes. When I make this dish, I omit the beans and use a few peeled regular potatoes instead of the red ones as that is just typically what I have on hand. Also, I usually plop a whole chicken in vs the cut up fryer since those are cheaper. This is a very yummy recipe!

I'm sorry, but the flavor just wasn't that good. The beans/celery/bacon gave the chicken an off taste to me. My hustband said he liked it but no one would eat the leftovers.

This is a great recipe. Made it today and my husband loved it and so did I. I made 2 modifications, firstly I never had any green beans so I didn't add them and second I added seasoning salt with no MSG to the vegtable layer, the potatoe layer and to the chicken breast layer. Next time I will add one can of chicken broth and 1/2 cup of water instead of 2 chicken broth. I used seasoned breasts so there was no worry of the chicken being dry. Recipe is great, thank you so much for sharing..

I just didn't see what the fuss was about with this recipe. The chicken was very tender, but really the dish as a whole just didn't have much flavor. Maybe cooking the chicken and vegetables separately would have helped.

I also have no idea why I followed the suggestion to use a ranch dressing marinade, it turned out really gross looking. Tasted good though. I'd give it a 3 based on how it tasted, but bumped it up to 4 since the recipe didn't call for the marinade.

This was very easy to put together. I put the chicken on the bottom and the veggies on the top. Added a bit more spices, per other users. It only took 3-4 hours on low to cook though, so dinner was early that night. It was okay tasting, nothing special though. Sorry.

This recipe was great! I tried on the BF and his BFF and our friend totally cleaned the plate! BF's picky, so maybe the thyme was too much for him. I also added lemon zest (about a tablespoon)about 5 hours into cooking and it gave it a really fresh flavour. Try this with the lemon zest, you wont be sorry!

My husband and I had this dish last night. I let it cook for about 8 hours. It was wonderful. The chicken was moist and very flavorful. The veggies were tender, but not mushy. The green beans were even a little crispy, but cooked through- just the way we like them. It came out perfect. I did add a little white wine and it gave it a little more flavor. It does take some time to prepare since you have to cut up all the veggies, but it is well worth it. I will make this over and over.

I give this recipe four stars because it was easy and healthy. It is a little lacking in the seasoning area, but for a recipe that is so healthy you can't really complain to much. My chicken was a little dry, so next time instead of layering the ingredients as listed, I might try putting the chicken on the bottom. This recipe is decent and I think I will keep it and try to tweak it a bit.

This wasn't bad, just rather boring. It is basically poached chicken and vegetables done in a crock pot. I did make up a gravy from the leftover broth to serve with this but it just isn't for me.

I thought this recipe was simple, easy and very good. I did make a couple of extra additions/substitutions however. I did use boneless/skinless chicken breasts, shredded carrots, french green beans, russet potatoes, onions, celery & garlic powder, salt, pepper, basil&thyme seasonings. I ended up doubling the water amount and bouillon and ultimately thought I'd like a sauce of some kind so I used leftover bacon drippings and added flour,1/2 milk & 1/2 remaining chicken broth from the crockpot (after it was complete)as well as some salt and it was a very good gravy to go over the vegetables. My husband and 4 children all enjoyed it. Thanks for the great recipe and the inspiration for the gravy :)

I'm not sure why I followed a suggestion to marinate in ranch dressing as it wasn't necessary and it left a curdled look to the broth, so I wouldn't advise that. I used 2 cans chicken broth in place of the water and bouillon and added 1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning and it was very tasty. It gets 5 stars because the original recipe did not call for ranch dressing and I think it is very good as written.
