This frosting was really easy to make and tasted delicious. The only problem I had was that the powdered sugar started to show through when I added darker food coloring. Not sure why, but it didn't look appealing. The light colors worked out perfectly.

This worked pretty good. I used this to outline cookies for a baby shower. I was hoping it would harden more based on reviews but it worked out.

It was a really good frosting, tasted just like the stores. I made this for my friend's birthday (first time I tried this recipe, I'm such a risk taker..) and she loved them, or at least that's what she said.

This frosting was exactly what I was looking for. My kids and I were making cookies for Halloween and we needed some frosting that tasted better than store bought frosting. So I found this recipe and thought I would give it a try. It is exactly like the frosting I use to have when I was a kid. It reminds me of the Market Basket Sesame Street Elmo and Cookie Monster cookie frosting. My kids are young so their decorating skills look horrible in my photo but the taste is amazing. The frosting is thick but easy to work with. We squeezed the frosting out with those frosting tubes and squeeze tips. It hardens a little after a few hours but just a little.

Did not like the shortening flavor that came through with this icing.

the taste was good but it didn't look good, and because of it, i only used for my GHOST halloween sugar cookies, cuz somehow i managed to spred the frosting, using spatula. yea, the frosting was too thick, and couldn't use the brush. But from this picture, the dove's frosting looked like my ghosts, so maybe it should look like this. I was expecting the smooth icing, which was easy to work on & decorate nice. BUT i brought those frosted & non frosted halloween sugar cookies, and those ghosts with this frost got compliments, and i'm relieved. The taste was good.

This served the purpose I wanted it to. It is a good, basic frosting that does dry hard, as promised, and is perfect for sugar cookies. The flavor is not strong (vanilla extract flavor), so it allows the cookie's flavor to stick out while still providing moisture. This will likely become my basic frosting for sugar cookies, as I prefer a frosting to a glaze.

Really good frosting! I used it on some sugar cookies! It was a bit thick so I added a bit more milk. I will definitely use it again.

After reading some reviews I decided to try this frosting out. It didn't sound very good by reading the ingredients, but it turned out great. I used it on the "Best Rolled Sugar Cookies" recipe from this site. By far these are the best sugar cookies I've ever tasted.

Best frosting ever, for a soft, crusty frosting use 1 part sweetex and 2 parts butter in place of shortning. You will be glad u did!!

I used this frosting with THE BEST ROLLED SUGAR COOKIES recipe and they work great together. I changed nothing with this recipe and it turned out great. It was creamy and fluffy. It dried quickly and was stackable. I love this recipe.

Absolutely perfect!! I hate the greasy aftertaste from shortening but in this recipe you couldn't even tell. I colored some black, orange and purple for my halloween sugar cookies and they came out beautifully. It only took about 30mins for the frosting to set to that the cookies could be stacked. This will be my go-to recipe for cookie frosting!!

Great recipe! I loved how it dried hard enough to stack the cookies, but still soft enough inside to be creamy. Very sweet, but I made it with a pretty un-sweet cookie, so it balanced out well. I did find that 5 tbsps of milk wasn't enough, so I basically just pour little bits of milk from the carton as I went along. I stopped when I had the consistency I wanted so I don't know exactly how much it took. I also liked the way it coloured with my colouring gels. It held a really nice vibrant colour.

This is a very simple, very tasty recipe. I did halve the recipe, and instead of shortening I used butter instead. I used the exact amount of melted butter that the recipe called for of shortening and it turned out wonderfully. As other reviews have stated, this is very, very, very sweet. But it's frosting so that is to be expected. I will absolutely make this in the future!
