Streusel Strawberry Pizza
SUBMITTED BY:
Karen Ann Bland
"'This is the best dessert pizza I've ever tasted,' relates Karen Ann Bland from Gove, Kansas. The fruity treat is easy to put together, too, because it uses convenient cake mix and any flavor of canned pie filling. 'It's great for children's parties,' she adds."

DIRECTIONS
In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry cake mix, oats and butter until blended; set aside 3/4 cup for topping. Add egg to the remaining crumb mixture and mix well.
Press into a greased 12-in. pizza pan. Build up edges and flute if desired. Bake at 350 degrees F for 12 minutes.
Spread pie filling over crust to within 1 in. of edges. Combine the nuts, brown sugar, cinnamon and reserved crumb mixture; sprinkle over filling. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack. Refrigerate any leftovers.

First, these are the changes I made... I used Old Fashioned Oats (all I had). I added 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp almond extract to the strawberry filling. I also upped the cinnamon to 1 teaspoon and I used cinnamon sugar instead of plain cinnamon. I used crushed almonds for the "nuts" (because the recipe didn't specify what kind of nuts to use). As for the review, this pizza was very tasty... I think your general fruit pizza is better than this recipe, but I had a can of strawberry pie filling and wanted to do something new with it. Fiancee thought the pizza was not sweet enough, so I would suggest adding more brown sugar than the recipe calls for, or adding some granulated white sugar along with the brown. Or you could serve this with whipped topping or ice cream on top. (I personally thought it was sweet enough, but I could see why someone might want it to be sweeter too). Also, there was too much topping... I would suggest following the directions about the topping, but only using as much as you want... for me that would have been about half of what was reserved for the topping. Finally, the second baking time might be off a bit... I baked mine for 12 minutes and it was done... any longer and the bottom crust would have been far too crispy. Finally, I think it is best served after it is chilled in the fridge for a couple hours! I hope that all helps, and thanks for the recipe Karen!
