Nice, quick, easy to keep on hand. Made with 1/2 Whole Wheat flour and with Sucanat, thus not merely vainglorious carbs. Might try a touch more baking powder and oil for the cake, and definitely a touch more butter in the streusel topping..... Also, want to toss in some chopped cranberries or other fruit. Husband really enjoyed this with just my first two changes, though.

My family really enjoyed this cake! I prefer a thick coffee cake, so I used a double batch for a 9" square pan - and I used part of the topping to create a ribbon in the middle. A few of the reviews said this was bland, but I followed the recipe exactly and had no problems - perhaps their cake mix wasn't blended enough.

I was so suprised that this cake was so fantastic. I made extra topping because it only makes enough to barely top the cake and thats my favorite part!! Super Easy recipe, easy to follow with a great ending result!!

When I made this, I didn't have baking powder, so I made the recipe as printed, but when I baked it, I used 1 cup mix and 1 cup baking mix (Bisquick, etc.). It turned out fine. I didn't think the topping tasted like anything but flour (I didn't use nuts), so the second time I made this, I made a topping of only butter, white sugar (didn't have brown sugar or nutmeg), and cinnamon. I liked this sweeter topping much better.

This is the worst recipe for cake. It tastes like a biscut with sugar. It also bakes up like a biscut. I can't think of anyway to make this taste good.

My husband and I love this! I do cut the streusel topping in a little bit so it doesn't fall off the top. I also add a little frosting to it on occasion.

Very yummy, and very quick and easy. I made a batch for home as well and it was gone immediately. The cake batter is very thick, but bakes up fluffy and light. The only thing I will do differently next time is either add choc chips or ribbon in some streusel into the cake itself. Thanks for sharing the recipe, and the cute gift idea!

I made this on a whim this morning when my husband got up. I was worried because the mix for the cake came out very thick but was willing to make an adjusted batch. I didn't need to, the directions made it perfect. I omitted the pecans and added an extra teaspoon of nutmeg. I love all the recipes I get from this site. This in one of the best and most successfull "spur of the moment" recipes. Will make this in the future time and time again!!

This was pretty good. I think next time I will put some chocolate chips in it. I like how the ingredients were what I had on hand. I also used half wheat flour and half regular flour. Next time I am going to use applesauce instead of oil. I do that in all my recipes to make it moist and less fat.
