Worked just as written very well. I was very happy with the results and so was my family. I will definitely use this recipe again, and maybe play with it a bit, but am excited to have found such a simple recipe that I could prepare in the afternoon and have right after dinner. thank you!

only mashing 1/4 is CRITICAL, or you might as well be making it with jelly

I made this recipe exactly as it was, and everything turned out wonderful! The only suggestion that I have is for the whipped cream: for a little flavor, add a teaspoon of powdered sugar before whipping (and a drop of almond extract if you feel crazy!) Also, I like to add a couple of drops of lemon juice to the cut strawberries before placing them in the pie pan, which gives the pie a hint of much-needed acidity. Delicious!

Soooooo goooooood!!!!! I did what a couple others suggested: 1/4 mashed and 3/4 I quartered and left un-mashed. I also only used half the sugar and replaced the water with ginger ale. Man it was so good. I did have to add sugar to the whipped cream though; it was kinda cross with out it.

I made a 10" pie with 4 1/2 cups of strawberries and there was only just enough glaze. I used 3/4c sugar and added 2 Tbl of lemon juice but the result was still *very* sweet. I also added 1Tbl of strawberry jello but the glze didn't set - the filling was still quite runny. But the result was still very delicious.

This is very good; I made it for my husband because strawberries are his favorite. I don't even like strawberries and I ate half of it!

My family was disappointed with this pie. My husband thought there were too few strawberries and too much glaze. I used 2 pounds of strawberries - one for the whole strawberries and one for the glaze. If I did it again, I would half the recipe for the glaze and use the rest of the strawberries whole.

I was skeptical of a strawberry pie, but it was great! Used a graham cracker ready made crust which added to the sweetness.

Very easy and very good! I made these into tarts using frozen tart shells and putting half a large strawberry in each. Served with whipped cream on top (made with a dash of vanilla). Delicious.

Wonderful recipe - you've gotta try it! I didn't have enough strawberries to make the whole pie, but really wanted to make this so I halfed the recipe and made strawberry tarts instead. Other than that change, I followed the recipe exactly and it wasn't too sweet at all for me (my strawberries were fairly tart though). In all, it made 8 tarts. To make the tarts, I simply cut out 5" circles from one pie crust (had to put scraps together and roll out for a couple of them). I then shaped them over the back of a muffin tin and pinched the sides all around to make them fluted. Just before serving, I used canned whipping cream to make perfect looking whipped swirls and put a piece of strawberry on top. They were a huge hit and everyone loved them. I think I will continue to make the tarts over the pie as they are so pretty and make a beautiful presentation. Also, you don't have to worry about if it doesn't set exactly or being messy when served on a plate. Thanks so much for this recipe. I will be making this over and over again - especially for company.

First of all, I used a ton of berries that we just picked & loaded up the crust (they were small berries) - mashed about 2 cups, used 4-5 cups whole. I used just under the full amount of sugar, a tablespoon of lemon juice, half cup of water, and full amount of cornstarch (which I could taste TOO much when I tasted it directly from the pan, but could not detect once it was poured over the other berries in the pie). Made the crust (somewhat successfully, but easy & delicious) from BIG GUY STRAWBERRY PIE. I WILL make this again, it was gone in a flash & the hubby is dreaming for more!

This is a winner. Can be too sweet if you're not careful w/the the sugar but very very good regardless. Try pureeing the mashed mixture for a smoother pie. I am also going to try to play around with other crusts (graham cracker or cake) and try layering this (cheesecake, mousse, etc.) Delicious!
