Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup strawberry jam
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and honey. Combine the flour, baking powder, allspice and nutmeg; gradually add to creamed mixture. Divide the dough in half; spread half into a lightly greased 9-in. square baking pan. Spread with jam. Drop remaining dough by teaspoonfuls over jam. Sprinkle with walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until top is golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
