I have to say that I found this recipe several years ago. It was a lifesaver for me as a new bride. I have taken it to many a baby and bridal shower and it has become my signature dish over the years. My husband just loves it and my nieces and nephews love to crumble the angel food cake. I have also substituted frozen pound cake cut into cubes for the angel food cake (making it a 2 minute dessert - literally for those last mintue guests). Couldn't live without this recipe.

This is reminiscent of my families recipe for strawberry shortcake. We used strawberry jam instead of the glaze but, I made this recipe following esxactly as it's written and it was awesome. Letting this recipe sit in the fridge is important!

I made this for a BBQ. I sliced the strawberries and poured sugar over them and let refrigerate overnight. This turned out so good people were literally scraping the bowl.

I made this using sugar free Angel Food cake, sugar free Cool Whip, sugar free strawberry glaze, 3/4 cup splenda and 1/3 less fat cream cheese. Everyone in my "lunch bunch" wanted the receipe! It was so good and much better for you without so much sugar. My husband is a diabetic so I always try to cut the sugar out when possible.

I made this for my friend as a christmas present. while i didn't have any myself, i got this text message from her: "OMG ur cake is INCREDIBLE. Thank u so much seriously i could like eat the whole thing". I used strawberry flavored cool whip instead of regular to make it pink and to make it taste like more of a strawberry cake. I also sprinkled powdered sugar over the strawberries once they were glazed. I couldn't find "glaze" so i just used strawberry sundae topping.

Looks impressive and tastes even better! Like other reviewers, I decreased the sugar mixed into the cream cheese. I also skipped the glaze - I sliced up the berries and sprinkled sugar over them, then let them sit in the fridge over night before assembling the dessert.

I would give this 10 stars if I could. This has got to be one of the BEST desserts EVER, and really not that unhealhty if you use low-fat ingredients. Make sure your cream cheese is nice and soft before you need it, otherwise it will be lumpy.

Adjusted the recipe by using a lemon butter cake mix, add a bit of lemon zest and left out the glaze. It still came out great.

This was awesome. What I did to cut down to make it a bit better for you was I used fat free cream cheese and lite cool whip. I also used 2/3 cups of sugar instead of a whole cup. I did not put all the strawberry glaze in it either. I put a little bit at a time so it was not so soggy. It came out fantastic and EVERYONE loved it. I would totally make this again.

This was a huge hit at a Fourth of July party... I had at least 25 requests for the recipe. I followed the suggestion of making my own "glaze"... used the recipe using fresh strawberries, and it was fantastic. I bought the angel food cake in the grocery store and it was fine! The most luscious part is the strawberries, cream cheese and glaze.... yummy!

Perfect recipe for celebrating fresh strawberry picking season. I omitted the strawberry glaze (really not necessary) and used one container of low fat cream cheese and one regular (I tried the fat free cream cheese and the taste was pretty awful). I also used fat free cool whip and reduced the sugar as other reviewers. My husband and I polished it off rather quickly.

I served this at my daughters 1st birthday party and it was gone before I got a chance to have any. Reviews were great. I skipped the storebought glaze and created my own by putting sugar on the fresh berries and refrigerating for a few hours. I also used a larger size Sara Lee Poundcake and created two layers in a clear bowl. Refrigerated overnight. Fabulous!!
