This is how I always make macaroni and cheese for the kids - they hate the box kind - I also add a touch of parmesan cheese and a pinch of dry mustart. For those that say the sauce is grainy - it is your technique at fault - not the recipe. You must constantly whisk the flour and butter mixture and slowly whisk in the milk and constantly whisk the mixture even as you add the cheese and it will be as smooth as velvet.

very good, and quick. I used marble cheese and evap. milk, as that's all I had on hand. Nice and creamy.

Quite similar to what I grew up with - really nice; kids loved it (eating seconds right now)l added some cauliflower and corn to get them to eat veggies easily; and it worked! Great; really don't know how anyone ended up with a 'grainy' result if they cooked the flour/butter right; or if they used any good melting cheese (I always use colby.)

This was really easy to make! I really like the simplicity of it. Flavor was good, but needs some seasoning. Will def make again when I don't want to bake it!

This has good cheesy flavor and is really easy to make, but I think I need to add more flavor. I might try to make it again, and add some seasonings.

My teenagers love mac and cheese, but I am trying to show them that they can easily make better versions of their favorit convenience foods, such as the "blue box" version that works in a pinch. This is a great easy recipe for beginners and has much better flavors than powdered cheese products.

This is a great quick fix for mac and cheese! I sauteed some onions with sliced hot dog and added that. I also used probably a half cup more cheese. I still prefer baked mac and cheese, but when you're in a pinch, this is so easy and very rich.

This is really good. I didn't make any changes. It seems like a lot of sauce at first, but after a while the pasta soaks up the cheese sauce. I used Velveeta shredded cheese in the 8oz package. It melted very quickly and smoothly. I personally wouldn't add any more cheese as there is plenty. I didn't think it was grainy at all. Better than the store box type. Thanks!

I made this recipe the other night. After reading some reviews on here I decided to add more shredded cheese than required. I added about 4 1/2 cups of cheese instead of two. I also added about two and a half cups of milk. The finished dish was excellent. This recipe is very simple to make and if you add more things to it such as the increased cups of cheese I don't think you will be disappointed. It was very delicious.

Great, easy stove-top recipe, which is something I've been needing for awhile. It could use more cheese, and it's definitely better fresh than it is the next day. But overall, I liked it.

I've been making this for my kids for awhile now. The only things I change are to use more macaroni than called for otherwise it has to much sauce and to add some ground mustard. Thanks for the recipe, I would much rather feed them this than the "blue box". ;)

Very fast, easy and quite tasty too though I only used the cheese from the macaroni box and I added some parmesean and a dash of cayen pepper.

This recipe was so easy and yummy, too! I didn't notice the grainy texture that others described. I used skim milk, Promise spread, and reduced-fat cheddar to lower the saturated fat and cholesterol. Thanks for the great dinner idea!

Great recipe, sauce was done by the time the noodles were cooked. I do recommend adding more cheese and some extra parmesan to thicken it up and I also added more pepper.

I added one cup of cooked, smashed carrots, a package of diced ham and another cup of cheese. Kids inhaled it. It's even better with hot sauce. ;)

I added parmesan and *gasp* Velveeta to give this some flavor (very bland before I added extras). Kiddos and hubby did not care for this at all(with or without extras), but I liked it once it had a little more flavor.
