I have added more to the recipe but it has been a wonderful base to work with. I like to make a Bechamel Sauce and add garlic and onion and flour. For the cheese, I use Velveeta light, sharp cheddar and colby jack. I would like to try some fontina though. For extra seasonings I add a little dry mustard, hot sauce and worchestershire. Yeah, it might be a whole new recipe but it is out of this world good. OH, and if you really want to get crazy try a little sugar that changes the taste even more.

Yummy! Even my pickiest kids LOVED this macaroni and cheese. I followed the recipe exactly but I bet it would be delicious baked also. This recipe is a keeper!

This was good, didn't change a thing, although I do agree with a couple other commenters that the cheese sauce is a little excessive. That part could maybe be reduced a little bit. Otherwise great! I was in a bad mood yesterday and wanted something quick for dinner and this was a good comfort food. Thanks for the recipe.

I really managed to mess up the order of this, and grabbed the cheese and dumped that in before the milk...still turned out great! Added a dash of garlic powder, and a dash of dry mustard, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Very nice for a stovetop recipe...my 17 month old certainly gobbled it down, and my fairly pasta-picky husband liked it as well. A great basic recipe--don't be afraid to try jazzing it up some!!

Awesome recipe. Make sure you use sharp cheddar. Can also be sprinkled with bread crumbs and some grated parm and baked until golden brown.

This turned out pretty. I added some hot sauce and dry mustard and used canned milk and used more cheese than called for. Thanks, I was wanting a stove top method and this works.

I needed a quick mac and cheese recipe for lunches and this is it! Just as easy to make as the boxed kind but so much better. My kids ate it up!

I liked this recipe a lot after the changes I made: -Used extra noodles (way too much cheese sauce, but I used small elbows)... about 10 oz. instead of 7. -added greek seasoning to (individual) taste. This was really really good =)

I'M with the other person who said they couldn't taste the cheese and I doubled the recipe. Won't make this again.

Quick and easy. I ran out of the blue box variety, so I needed something in a fix. What a plus that I had the ingredients on hand, too. I used a variety of cheeses (colby/jack mix and a mexican mix) and it turned out good. You may need to experiment a little with what cheese you would like best.

Easy to follow, good base recipe. In order to get the results you want, you have to use your own different ingredients. Thicken it up and it's good to go. Mine was fantastic.

Finally, a homemade mac and cheese that's at least semi-healthy that my kids will eat! I made the mistake of getting them used to the blue box, and weaning them off of it has been a nightmare. But this recipe works. I even like it, and I can't stand the blue box! It seemed like too much sauce, but then it was all needed. Reheats well... very good!

My family did not care for this recipe. My 8 year old daughter loves mac n cheese. She eats it 5 days a week. This is the first time she turned down her favorite food. My husband and I both agree with her.

I had to double the cheese so that it would be etable. It had a grainy texture to it.

I did not like this recipe. I followed it to the letter. The appearance and smell were wonderful, but the taste was awful. There was a grainy texture to the final mix and I couldn't taste the cheese at all. I made this for Thanksgiving dinner, but luckily I had a container of Velveeta and I also doubled the amount of macaroni I cooked just in case this didn't turn out. Sorry, but I'm going to keep looking for another mac and cheese recipe.
