"There are many variations of the Swedish Spritz cookie, usually made into the shape of a star design or S. If you don't have almond extract, simply substitute vanilla."

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. Cream the sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Stir in the egg yolk and vanilla. Mix in flour just until incorporated. Knead dough lightly on a board. Place in a pastry bag using the star design. Cut off desired lengths and shape into rings or S's.
  3. Bake 10 to 12 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden.

As most Swedish sprits doughs this dough needs to rest in a cool place for at least 24 hours. Otherwise the cookies gets dry and are not very tasteful. These Spritz are very nice when you do that.

This was the worst spritz cookie recipe I have ever used. You do not have to grease the pan, there is plenty of butter in the cookies to keep them from sticking. I got 22 cookies not 6 dozen. It was obvious when mixing the batter that it wasn't going to make 6 dozen. I'll just go back to my Better Homes and Gardens cookback!!

This was not very tastey it was way to dry and floury it didn't even go through my spritzer.

These were awesome!! Very buttery and flavorful. These are vintage spritz cookies for sure
