With some changes made, this has become a favorite soup at my house. The first time I made it my husband and I realized that we liked it better before we had blended it. So now we cook it up with bite sized pieces of potato plus some other veggies like carrot, onion, and celery and we eat it without blending. Also, we used half chicken broth and half beef broth. The combination of split peas, potatoes, and broth is really great flavor.
