Spinach Salad with Oranges
SUBMITTED BY:
Kathy Schrecengost
"The tangy dressing for this refreshing salad has the right sweet-tart balance to suit my taste--and others who try it agree! Orange sections are a pretty contrast to the greens, and the bacon adds a crisp accent. --Kathy Schrecengost Oswego, New York"

This is an excellent salad. I first sampled it at my friend's sushi party, and everyone there including myself raved about it. If you need a salad for your guests to love......choose this!!! Add some caramilized pecans -delicious!

I was a bit leary about ketchup in the dressing, but went with it anyway and glad I did. I will try it out on my grandson when he flies in Miami for a visit. I used Red wine vinegar.

Great. Only had half the spinach but my husband and I enjoyed it; we had it for dinner, not as a side salad. It seemed to be alot of dressing. My changes were no bacon, almost a TBL spoon of dried onion instead of fresh and olive oil instead of vegetable. Next time maybe I will add nuts, croutons or craisins for texture. We'll be making it again.

This salad is great, I have made it before with bought dressing but this recipe is so MUCH better than shop bought. I used sugar substitute and dried onion and added 1/2 tsp liquid smoke. I keep a jar of dressing in the fridge.

I hope people aren't scared away by the ingredients in the dressing.....it is so great! I was planning on making spinach salad, but wanted to make my own dressing. This was perfect. I halved the oil and used red wine vinegar because that's what I had on hand. I topped with grilled chicken to make it a meal. Thanks for sharing!

This recipe is wonderful. I can't believe that I'm just rating it now. I served this as a starter last Easter for my family, and it was a huge hit! I would recommend NOT mixing the dressing w/the salad, as it will spoil the leftovers. My father, who is not a risk taker in the area of cuisine (just a meats and potato kinda guy) even loved it! Worth trying.
