Maple Baked Beans

Submitted by: Susan Baxter
Susan Baxter from Morgantown, Indiana jazzes up cans of beans with maple syrup and just a dash of cinnamon for a unique taste twist. This sweet saucy side dish is a snap to fix in the microwave, so it's handy to add to summertime menus.

Baked beans made from scratch in the slow cooker. It takes a lot of time to cook, but not a lot of work. Use Yellow Eye beans if they are available in your area, and grade A amber maple syrup if you can.

Wonderful mixture of beans and sausage in a tomato sauce, slowly cooked and really tasty. Maureen had a Labor Day picnic for our block every year and always made these beans. Everyone always looked forward to having this sidedish with dinner.

This is a recipe that I made for my nephew's barbecue cookout. I received praise from everyone, even my mother. She always claims that I add too much to my cooking. I showed her.

A comforting bake of pork and beans gets sweet, tangy and smoky with a few simple amendments. Stir in some chopped onion, a dab of bacon grease, some brown sugar and a dollop of ketchup. Put strips of bacon over the top and pop it in the oven.

Not your average baked beans! This recipe combines pinto, northern, baked, kidney and garbanzo beans with bacon and onion. Try this for a break from the ordinary.
