This recipe is fantastic and can take on many flavors depending on how you "tweak it" For example, I omit the black-eyed peas and use Garbonzo beans, Chick Peas OR Golden Hominy. I use real garlic vs garlic salt and I also sub yellow and red peppers vs green. Be careful adding too much Italian dressing, it can ovewhelm. Otherwise, experiment and have fun!

This is so good. Everyone in my office was raving about it. I used garlic powder instead of salt and sweet corn instead of regular, it was great!

Made w/ cilantro, lime, & fresh garlic like others. Made a double batch for a cookout, and used leftovers to make white chicken chili - can of chicken broth, 2 breasts, and some velveeta - awesome!!

Just served this at a party and it was the first thing to go, and the most talked about (by far) of all the food, most of which was a lot more effort! Much better the day after it's made. I used 2 fresh, seeded fresno peppers (look like red jalapenos, which weren't available), juice of one lime, chopped bunch of cilantro (better when added on party day), 2 cloves of fresh minced garlic, sea salt instead of garlic salt, and a pinch of cumin. The BEST!!! I'm having to make it again for my roommate and myself since we didn't get much at the party and have both been craving more.

I have made this for a few years now. I cut down the Italian dressing to 1/2 cup, and add a few dashes of Franks Red Hot Sauce. When I have fresh veggies, I use those instead. Sometimes I even use a can of tomatoes w/ green chiles, and its equally as good this way.

Very refreshing, light recipe. I have made this many times with one addition of a little hot sauce to kick it up a little.

I did what others recommended and added cilantro. I also added lemon powder as it wasn't tart enough for me and I used fresh tomatoes. It was delicious and I got a lot of recipe requests for it.

love it love it love it! great base... i omit the Italian dressing like many of the other reviewers and make my own marinade. added some tequila (amber patron) to the marinade of oil, lime and spices then served it as an appetizer with 'hint of lime' tortillas in margarita glasses so people could walk around with it at my last dinner party...chic and easy

This was so easy, and so very delicious. I made a few changes to suit my tastes: I substituted chick peas for black-eyed peas, red onion for white onion, and two diced roma tomatoes for a can of tomatoes. I also left out the green peppers and jalepenos since I was making it for a crowd. I can't wait to make this again.

I tried this a new recipe for my party last weekend and it got rave reviews. I only gave it 4 stars cause I thought it was too spicy. So next time I will add less jalepenos. I served with Frito Lay Scoopes and it was all gone. I printed out copies of the recipe for some of my family who raved over the salsa.
