Really quick and simple to toss together! Ifollowed the recommendation for tomato sauce and added some fresh, crushed garlic. Also added about a tablespoon of chili powder and cumin to give it a bit of kick. Will make again!

Gourmet fare it's not, but for what I had on hand, it worked, and was well-recieved at the dinner table! I actually had some leftover Spanish rice, so I just blended it into the beef/veggie mixture while it simmered to warm it up. Other small changes included using frozen green beans instead of canned (I hate the texture of canned green beans!), replacing the dried onion and garlic w/ fresh, and using Mexican-seasoned stewed tomatoes. After draining the beef, I followed the recipe and mixed everything together (including my cooked rice) and let it simmer until it was ready to serve. Sprinkled with grated cheese and green onions, and this was a tasty, easy meal w/ very little clean-up.

instead of cooking the rice in it, I cheated and served it over minute rice. It was alright, watch out for hot pokets cause the meat mixture stays hotter when mixed with minute rice !!!

This recipe was ok as a base. I was disappointed at first cause there was no taste to it. I have a big family so I doubled the recipe, added potatoes o'brien (28oz. bag) and taco seasoning, my fiance wont eat onions, so I puree them. This recipe still needs some fine tuning. But my family said the way I modified it wasnt bad at all. everyone had seconds. My fiance had a third helping. I'm not yet satisfied with the way it came out and plan to fine tune it. OTHER THEN THAT I LOVED HOW EASY IT WAS TO MAKE!!!

Once I added all the ingredients, I was skeptical that the rice would get cooked, as there was hardly any liquid. But, I followed the directions. Turned out just right. If you make sure the heat is turned very low and make sure to cover tightly, the rice will cook without added water. It is also probably more flavorful without adding water. My husband really liked this. Very easy to make with things I always keep on hand. I did add fresh onion and garlic, however.

It was very delicious with some minor changes. I followed the advice of other reviewers and added two cups of water. I also added in about 1/4 cup tomato sauce to enhance the taste and flavor, and some extra rice to feed my big family. But over-all, it was a nice recipe.

I have tried many recipes from this site and this one has been the only one so far that I did not like. It did not have enough flavor. I won't make it again

We eat this at least twice a month - everyone in the house loves it. It's easy to adjust, too. I always add about a cup of water and sometimes some ketchup and/mustard. It's great every time!
