Wonderful. Is made even more tasty with coconut extract :) The only suggestion I would make is to use less sugar for top/coating; you really don't need that entire cup.

I LOVE this recipe, I have made it about 5 times now, though, and it comes out "Bubbly" every single time.

I just threw all the custard ingredients into the blender and gave it a whirl. My husband says it is just like our favorite Mexican restaurant's flan. Just what I was looking for!

adding a drop or two of lemon juice to the sugar (over heat) will keep it from carmelizing

I subbed powdered sugar instead of granulated because I was out, and it still turned out awesome!

Wow - Great flan. we have always wondered how flan is made and assumed it was a difficult process. We were wrong and this is a great recipe. Add more eggs for a stiffer flan, less egg for a creamier flan. Either way, this was just plain excellent !

I've made flan several times and this was delicious and easy. My only complaint was for those who never made a flan before you must bake the flan in a water bath. This was left out of the recipe (very Important)!!! Also, I've made the caramel by melting the sugar in the microwave, 1 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon water. Mix water into the sugar mixture and microwave for approx. 5-6 min. It should be a copper color - don't let it burn. And, you must immediately pour the caramel mixture into the pan as is hardens very quickly. Otherwise, this was a delicious flan.

Came out great the first time!! I followed earlier reviews and swirled sugar instead of stirring, made with 5 eggs instead of 3, mixed in blender while sugar was caramelizing and baked it in a water bath. It was perfect!!! Creamy and smooth, just as good as any restaurant I have had!!

I've made this a few times and it is great every time! As some suggested, I baked it in a water bath. I also used 4 eggs instead of 3 which created a perfect consistency; not too eggy, yet firm and creamy. Some have suggested using brown sugar as a substitute for the white. Because of the molasses added to make brown sugar, when liquifying, the molasses can burn quickly and ruin the sugar syrup (I know cuz I did it!) White sugar works perfectly. I combined the egg mixture in my mixer and did not need to sieve. I have received rave reviews on this flan and it is easy to make with simple ingredients. Comes out perfect every time! This will be a staple in my dessert repertoire!

I made this exactly as the recipe stated but I did cook it in a water bath because I was afraid not to. This was fabulous. It turned out perfectly and was just sweet enough. It was simple to make and I had all the ingredients here at home. I'll make this again and again.

This was such a great flan recipe. My husband and I really enjoyed it and I can't get enough. What I did was beat the eggs in a bowl and then mixed the beaten eggs and everything else in a blender. I also used a Teflon pan for the flan and it turned out well, not any different than a glass one I don't think. I also did the water bath for the first time, and it seems to have worked. The http://engineeringllama.blogspot.com/2008/04/full-revised-spanish-flan-recipe.html website helped a lot.

This was excellent! I was so impressed that it turned out. I did add an extra egg as many reviewers suggested. The one thing I did do that I won't do again is used real vanilla bean and it made it a bit crunchy as I think I added to much but that was my own fault. Also following other reviewers advice on making the carmel sauce. I did not stir the sugar until it started to liquify then stirred. It takes time and if it is clumping stop stirring it is too soon. Also warm pan in oven before pouring in carmel sauce and then cook in water bath.

How to clean pot after caramel: fill the pot with water (3/4 of the way or so) put some dish washing soap, and bring to a boil. Stick spoon (or utensil) used for caramel inside. Once boiling, gently scrape caramel off of utensil. Pot remains unscratched and you can actually see your spoon once again. I changed a couple things, for one 4 eggs. Secondly, put into a water bath in the oven. Amazing flan everyone wanted the recipe.

My peruvian boyfriend and ecuadorian roommate swear by my flan recipe :) I use 4 eggs instead of 3 to get the right consistency, and brown sugar instead of white sugar for a nice rich caramel color. Tastes better when made a day ahead and chilled well. One of my favorite desserts - very cheap to make and doesn't take much time.
