This recipe is really good. I have never made my own taco seasoning before and I will never use it again. The only thing is that it needs a little more of a kick to it. It needs something so I guess I will play with it a little bit and see if anything helps. My husband loved them and ate 4 tacos. I will definitely make this again.

This is an excellent alternative to the packaged seasoning variety. I was looking for a homemade and authentic tasting taco meat but without the artificial taco seasoning packets you find at the grocery store. I did puree the tomatoes and didn't add as much cumin, just due to personal tastes, and I forgot to add the cornmeal. Delicous and my kids loved it too.

This is my Go To Taco meat recipe. It's even better if you make it the day before. Tonight I used the jalapeno-spiked canned tomatoes - delicious!

This was excellent!! I made no changes and it was a hit and something to put into my rotation. I think I wil try to add black beans next time for more texture and protein.

I thought this was just ok. I didn't have enough chili powder and I think it would be better if I did. I used 1 pound of beef w/a whole onion, 2 cloves of garlic, and a whole can of tomatoes.

This was fantastic. I can't wait for taco salad tomorrow. Like someone else who reviewed this, I did not need the cornmeal. I did not add any tomatoes and used salsa instead. I will never use a taco seasoning packet again.

This was great for tacos. I used them for 7 for dinner and had plenty left over for my own taco salads for lunches. I used all lean ground beef. Great recipe! Much better than a taco seasoning packet.

I will never use packaged taco seasoning again after trying this. I did use a can of Rotel diced tomato/green chili instead of the plain tomatoes, but otherwise followed the recipe exactly, including the 3 lbs of meat. We LOVED it.

I will use this receipe from now on for tacos, no more package. I had to spice it up some more for our taste.

Used it for tacos; it was a huge hit with my husband! I used Mexican oregano instead, and omitted the cornmeal—didn't even need it!

This was good but I scaled back to 2lbs beef and used 1 10oz can of Rotel otherwise used about the same measurements for spices. I also added garlic salt and garlic powder per my taste. I'm thinking of adding green chiles too. Great basic recipe to adjust to your own taste.

I was looking for a taco meat seasoning recipe that didn't use the nasty packaged stuff and this definitely filled the bill. Agreed, it could have used more heat, but I made it as-is first on the off chance I could get my 5 year-old to eat it (no luck). Overall, a really nice blend of seasonings; we'll probably just add a little cayenne or jalepeno next time to kick it up for our personal taste.
