'THE PIES were baked a few days before the holiday gathering and then placed in a tall pie safe on our back porch. My father called this 'royal pie', fit for a king with its deliciously different flavor. This is another hand-me-down recipe, a treasure in our family.'

Lemon juice, nutmeg and vanilla do wonderful things for this tasty sweet potato pie. And a combination of milk and cream make the filling smooth and rich. All the ingredients are stirred up in one bowl, so making this pie is a snap, and it bakes in an hour. Serve warm or cold with a bowl of just-whipped cream.

Lots of sugar and half-and-half make this pie 's filling sweet, rich and creamy. Along with butter, eggs, nutmeg and vanilla, everything is mixed together in one bowl, poured into a prepared crust and dusted with nutmeg. In less than an hour, the pie bakes into a fragrant and delicious treat.

The delicious filling for this easy-to-make pie is nicely buttery and spicy. Boiled sweet potatoes, butter, sugar, salt, eggs, cinnamon and allspice are mashed and blended together, and then poured into a prepared pastry crust. An hour later, the pie is ready to serve with whipped cream.

You can really taste the sweet potatoes in this creamy wonderful pie. There 's buttermilk stirred into the filling and a bit of baking soda, sugar, eggs, flour, and a smidgen of butter. There 's a bit of vanilla, but no spices, so the finished pie is mostly sweet potato.
