My family is not to crazy about eating cake, because of the icing. BUT THIS WAS A HIT!!!!! This is the best frosting we have ever tasted. I frosted a cake with it and it was gone with in 24 hours. YUM,YUM,YUMMY!

I made a cake for my friend's birthday two years ago and they still talk about how amazing the frosting was. I love it! It's simple, fast and can top off many different kinds of cakes!

Smooth and creamy, very easy to spread on your cake. As another reviewer pointed out not as chocolately as I would like. So I just added some Hershey's Baking Cocoa in at the end and beat it in. Made it more chocolate tasting like we like. About 1-2 Tbs. Sorry I didn't measure, just eyeballed it's color for measure. Very good. Will definitely use this one again.

Very good frosting. It had a very smooth creamy texture which was nice, but the chocolate seemed a little on the mild side for me so maybe I would use some more chocolate the next time I make this. I also added a little bit of cinnamon to the frosting which complemented the flavour very well.

Excellent! Pretty much followed the recipe without any remarkable adjustments for my Hubby b-day on Sunday. I used it to frost a chocolate layer cake and he and the kids devoured it. He said it was the best he'd ever had, including his mom's! One note: While I was making the frosting, it didn't seem like there would be enough to frost two cakes, but I had plenty, even with the kids stealing a taste here and there. Very good recipe...definitely a keeper

So good. While mixing the melted chocolate with the sour cream the smell reminded me of homemade chocolate pudding. Yum! Thanks for the recipe!

Made as written except I microwaved chocolate & butter and didn't bother to cool before adding other ingredients. Yummy!

I made this to top a basic chocolate cake, need something quick.. Family dinner last minute thing. This was quick and very tastey. Everyone at our family dinner raved about the taste. I also toped it slightly with powdersugar,(just shofted it over the top) Then took some very high quailty dark chocolate, shaved it and added that as well (and as another review suggested added a small amount of strong coffee.) This did add to the chocolate tangy taste! Thank you for sharing. This is a chocolate frosting keeper, for sure. :)

Awesome recipe. I did make some modifications based on reviews that it was too sweet. I used 3oz. each of semi-sweet chocolate squares & unsweetened squares. My family has many chocoholics. And only 1 3/4 cup sugar. This really dresses up a $1 box of brownies with plenty left over for something else.

Great recipe! I needed a last minute frosting and happened to have all of these ingredients on hand so I gave it a try and I think it is better than the store frosting. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I actually found the frosting to be a little bitter for my taste (fine if that's what you are going for) so I added a little extra white sugar to add some sweetness. It tasted more like an icing which went great with the "Too Much Chocolate Cake" recipe on this site. Thanks!!

This frosting was okay. I did not like the tart that came from the sour cream. The people at my party liked it though.

This is delicious. I admit, per the other reviewers saying it was a bit tart, I only used 1/4 cup of the sour cream and added 1/4 cup of heavy cream. It came out perfect and I can't stop licking the bowl!! :) I hate changing a recipe and then rating it but this is definitely a keeper w/ that minor change!

Excellent!!! Perfect amount of everything, but I added an extra tsp. of Vanilla. I used this to frost sour cream sugar cookies - YUMMMMM! If you want to cut down the bitterness of the chocolate, you can substitute 1/2 the chips for milk chocolate chips.

Tasty, fudgy frosting. I only used 1 1/4 cups of powdered sugar and it was fine, but you could keep adding....... Easy to spread and looks lovely. Easy to make, too.

This was very good. I mixed 1/3 unsweet and the remaining semi sweet chocolate. I like a less sweet frosting. I made a regular devils food cake mix split and frosted between layers.

I used this frosting on an orange cake, and it was simply delicious. For my tastes, however, I found the sourcream a bit too tart, so I might have slightly decreased it. To others, however, it might be perfect. All in all, this is an easy and great recipe, which I will use again. Thank you.
