I made the topping using 1/3 c sugar 1/2 c brown sugar 1/3 c. flour 1 tsp cinnamon and cut it 1/4 c chilled butter and sprinkled it over the pie in the last 20 minutes of baking

Lovely pie. When I make this, I slice the apples thinly instead of chopping. This makes the texture much more pleasing and delicate in my opinion. It tastes best either the first or second day so I would recommend making it when you're sure it'll get eaten quickly!

Overall this is a very nice pie. Like apples and cream, a nice change from apples, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I would suggest thinly slicing the apples or chopping them finely as a rough chopped apple doesn't quite get done, or using a softer apple. I used Granny Smiths and it was just too hard. The flavor was incredible however so next time I will just cut them smaller. I did double the amount of apples used and I didn't use all of the topping, I will halve that next time, and there will be a next time so I gave it 4 stars.

I didn't exactly make the pie, but I'll give it 5 stars because the filling is certainly worth it. I used the filling in crepes, and it was absolutely wonderful. I had apples and sour cream on hand, and thought it would make a tasty combination, so I searched those ingredients and found this recipe. I'm glad I did, and soon I'll actually make the pie and not just the filling.

My man loves loves loves apple pie. He did not care for this at all. I thought it was different and ok. Would not make this again. For all the work that goes into making crust and peeling apples this is not worth it to me.

Okay, I've made this twice now, the 1st time I used a deep dish 9" pie plate and I had to bake the pie about 20-25 min longer than the written instructions. The 2nd time I used a regular 9" and it was PERFECT! It took maybe 5 minutes longer for the center to set. This pie is delicious and so simple. We all loved it! Thanks for the recipe!
