I was looking for a quick dessert, and came across this recipe at another site, really was skeptical about the 3 packages of cream cheese, but I figured, what the heck, can't have to much of a good thing, so tried it, minus the almonds, and was really surprised when it turned out so well. Think next time I will try 2 packages of cream cheese, and dot with some pie filling before putting the top layer of dough on. BTY I found "Crescent Recipe" rolls of dough, that you don't have to close the perforations on, it is all one rectangular piece, perfect fit for the 9x13 pan, just remember NOT to spread the filling all the way to the edge of the dough, leave it just before you reach the side of the pan. Great dessert, and soooo simple!!!!!

My mother-in-law made this for a recent family reunion! It was a huge hit! I live in South Texas and took it to work. Many of my co-workers are Hispanic. They loved it and said they were going to make it for their families. Was it exactly a "Hispanic" dish, no.. but they liked the twist on an old favorite.

Absolutely delicious! I made these for my husband to bring to his office party and they were a hit! I can't wait to make them again for us! I thought it was too much butter at first, and thought it may flop, but it worked and wasn't greasy. Thanks for sharing such a great recipe!

Just like me, this recipe is so good and easy!!! I threw together a double recipe for a Cinco de Mayo part of 23. It was the dessert hit, with some chocolate chili Mexican cookies. Just make it and eat it!

I thought this was just okay, but everyone else loved it! I put an egg in the cream cheese mixture as someone else suggested and drizzled honey over the top. I think the honey on top was fabulous!

This was a hit at a ladies bible study. This dessert is done 1000 times here in Texas, but usually more gooey and without the almonds. So it was received like a new dessert, crisper top and more sophisticated. Thanks!!!

My husband was skeptical about this dessert but ended up loving it. I followed the recipe exactly other than I left off the almonds (didn't have any) and it is sooooo good warm or cold. As easy as the no-bake kind but tastes alot better.

I made this for my Bunko group which was having a Mexican themed evening. Everyone loved it and begged me to send them the recipe. It is very rich, however, so make sure to tell people to save room if you are serving it after a large meal.
