just made the batter for these cookies... super easy! i made a few changes to the recipe, though. I used 1 1/3 cups of margarine and omitted the shortening and salt. I discovered I was out of vanilla extract, so I substituted lemon extract. The batter is chilling in the fridge, and I'll be putting them in the oven in a few minutes! I just ran to the computer to tell you what I think so far. *fingers crossed*

Great basic sugar cookie recipe! Followed the recipe exactly and I found them to be just a little more crumbly than I was expecting. Overall, they were very soft and tender and I will certainly make them again

excellent recipe! tweaked a bit; 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup splenda. dash of almond extract in addition to the vanilla. took enough dough for about 24 cookies and added nutella to half of it and peanut butter to the other half effectively making delicious sugar cookies, peanut butter cookies, and chocolate hazelnut cookies with one versatile recipe! tiny cookies baked for 13 minutes

Best sugar cookies I have ever had. I iced them with the sugar cookie frosting recipe from this site too. I recommend baking them for 8-9 minutes not 11.

Excellent. I lightly pat the balls down onto parchment lined cookie sheet and then flip them over so I get a nice looking top.

These are to die for. I followed the recipe to the letter. The shortening gives the cookies a nice flaky texture that you don't get using just butter. These will definitely be my go to sugar cookie recipe from now on. Thanks so much.
