Dont you hate it when someone gives a review of less than 5 stars and then goes on to say they didnt have all the ingredients so they substituted butter for shortening?... I found these cookies to be great. They baked up nice and soft. I will keep this recipe and use it from now on.

Very good cookie. I had to use whole wheat flour. I was worried that they would turn out heavy, but they were light, soft in the center, somewhat chewy, with a soft center. Just the way we like them.

This is a great recipe! It comes our perfect every single time, so I choose it when I need a quick desert that offers me no surprises. The only change I made was to use 10 oz. of butter instead of the butter/shortening mix. I personally don't touch shortening and never use it in anything that goes inside our bodies. What I also love about this recipe is its versatility as far as decoration options. Awesome recipe! Thank you for submitting it!

i made this and forgot to add the eggs, also i rolled it in too much cinnamon. so the end result came out too sweet and i bet even if i did add eggs to it, it would still taste bad, no offense. i didnt like it one bit. the only thing i liked about it was that it was soft.

I made this recipe gluten free by substituting gluten-free flour where it called for regular and it turned out amazing! I will definitely be using this recipe again, the kids LOVED it!! The gluten free flour mix I use is: 2 cups rice flour; 2/3 cup potato starch; 1/3 cup tapioca flour; 1 tsp xantham gum. Thanks!!

I used all butter and no shortening (I like the butter flavor better!) and made sure it was softened before making the batter. I made these about a tablespoon each and ended up with almost 50 cookies. I rolled each cookie in the crystal multi-colored sugar and slightly pressed each with the bottom of a glass. Because they were smaller I took them out after about 8 minutes and 30 seconds and they were perfect. These cookies came out beautifully and were delicious. A big hit in my 3rd grade class Easter party!

Followed the recipe and they were quite bland. I later added some almond flavoring to the rest of the batch and did not help too much.

fantastic recipe - best sugar cookies ive tried .. very soft in texture.. I rolled mine in plain sugar as well as a cinnamon sugar mixture - only advice I'd give is to make sure you cream your ingredients properly until light in color and fluffy - VERY IMPORTANT! and do not overbake!

I really loved making these cookies, as they were easy to prepare and tasted great! What I ended up doing was making the dough into about 1-inch balls and freezing them, so I could have a few cookies whenever I wanted instead of a whole batch just sitting there staring me in the face- lol. They still tasted great after being frozen and I didn't even frost them!

I made these cookies last night, and If I didn't stop my husband he would have eaten them all. I have been searching for a long time for a chewy sugar cookie, and now my search has come to an end. Cookies came out just perfect, and the recipe is so easy!!

These came out pretty good. My girlfriend brought over some of her dough so we could bake together and mine came out a little better than hers. This was my first time making sugar cookies. I would definatly make these again. Thanks for sharing.

This is my first review, and all I can say is..."WOW!!". I have been trying to find a good Sugar Cookie recipe for years - okay, decades. This recipe did not need to be tweaked or altered, and the dough came out beautifully. Even my 13-year old daughter was able to roll and use cutter cutters on it. I couldn't be happier because this recipe is the light at the end of the tunnel...which will save me hours of painless cookie making for my kids classes, for potlucks at work, and "just because cookies" for home. THANK YOU!!!

These were easy to make, and I made them exactly as the recipe was written except with the addition of orange zest as one person suggested. I thought they were a little bland, even with the zest.
