I really loved making these cookies, as they were easy to prepare and tasted great! What I ended up doing was making the dough into about 1-inch balls and freezing them, so I could have a few cookies whenever I wanted instead of a whole batch just sitting there staring me in the face- lol. They still tasted great after being frozen and I didn't even frost them!

I made these cookies last night, and If I didn't stop my husband he would have eaten them all. I have been searching for a long time for a chewy sugar cookie, and now my search has come to an end. Cookies came out just perfect, and the recipe is so easy!!

These came out pretty good. My girlfriend brought over some of her dough so we could bake together and mine came out a little better than hers. This was my first time making sugar cookies. I would definatly make these again. Thanks for sharing.

This is my first review, and all I can say is..."WOW!!". I have been trying to find a good Sugar Cookie recipe for years - okay, decades. This recipe did not need to be tweaked or altered, and the dough came out beautifully. Even my 13-year old daughter was able to roll and use cutter cutters on it. I couldn't be happier because this recipe is the light at the end of the tunnel...which will save me hours of painless cookie making for my kids classes, for potlucks at work, and "just because cookies" for home. THANK YOU!!!

These were easy to make, and I made them exactly as the recipe was written except with the addition of orange zest as one person suggested. I thought they were a little bland, even with the zest.

This is a great sugar cookie recipe. Very easy to make and they taste great. It is not what I was looking for. I am looking for a recipe for the sugar cookies they have in the grocery store--they are round and have great frosting. They are a very soft cookie. I will definitely make these cookies again!

Sooooo good! I did use butter flavored shortening just because that's what I had on hand, so not sure how much that affected the recipe, but this is for sure my go-to sugar cookie from now on. Really moist and just the right mix of fluffy and dense.

I made these cookies last night. They are the best sugar cookies we ever had! My husband is very picky about his cookies and he kept telling me how much he loved them. The funny thing is he did not want me to make these because it said soft sugar cookies. He likes them crunchy. See you can teach an old dog new tricks! :-)~

This recipe is absolutely delicious. The cookies come out so soft and chewy. I have made these cookies over a dozen times. I recommend using vanilla frosting on these cookies, if you want to make it a little more sweet. It will make these cookies all the more irresistible. Once you set them out, they will be gone in a flash.

I liked these, but they did not flatten out much, also would cut down on the salt. Did not stay really soft, more on the chewier side & alittle hard but not crunchy.

Amazing! My toddlers were bored this afternoon, so we decided to make some purple cookies (read as: sugar cookies mixed with red and blue food coloring) and these were a smash hit! PERFECT texture and consistency--crisp around the edges but ultra soft and fluffy on the inside--the ideal sugar cookie. I added a tiny bit more sugar to the recipe after reading they weren't too sweet based off the recipe--just a hint--and they were perfect for our tastes. I also rolled the cookies into balls, rolled said balls in sugar, and flattened them slightly with a drinking glass. When baked between 8-9 minutes, they were perfect. Definitely the best sugar cookie recipe I've ever tried. This one is a keeper! :)

Wonderful soft cookie. Delicious flavor as I am not usually a big fan of sugar cookies. Granddaugter needed green snack for school for st patrick's day so I made them green and dipped top in green sugar. Beautiful cookie too.... thx

I just made these for my son's pre-school St. Patrick's day party. We used green food coloring in half the dough and they came out wonderful. They taste so good I am afraid I will find an excuse to make them way too often.

These were great! The shortening is really key. I left them in for about ten minutes - enough for the outside to be slightly crunchy but the inside to be super moist, even throughout the next few days. I tried flattening them and using my cookie cutters for one of the batches, but this recipe and it's softness does really work best when it's rolled into balls. The cut-out cookies were good too, though! Please everyone, don't overcook these! I saw a review of someone mentioning that they were so hard/inedible, so keep them in a few minutes less if you need to! I imagine it's hard to screw these up otherwise.
