These were very good. I also served with the garlic butter recipe from here. I look forward to serving these again. When you do the second rise in your oven, set your oven for 250-300 degrees. Then bake. Very tasty. Thanks Charles. I served these with Jambalaya.

My family liked these very much. I will definitely make them again. I brushed with butter seasoned with garlic powder. Very delicious.

Made these by hand. I used 3 heaping tsps of garlic powder and subbed oregano for basil. Although they baked up light and fluffy on the inside, they didn't taste like much of anything. When I reheat them, I think I will close my eyes and add a ridiculous amount of butter and some salt on top of them to see if I can make them taste more like the breadsticks at Olive Garden. If I make these again, I will add a garlic butter coating after they're done baking (as per many of the 5 star reviews).

Very simple to make. My family ate them so quick there were no leftovers for the next day. Next time I will have to double the recipe.

Fabulous! I didn't use a bread machine, but they weren't that hard. My husband ranted and raved about these. The only thing I did differently was to use about 1/2 a tsp. dried basil instead of fresh. Awesome recipe!

I proofed the yeast in the water and sugar for 10 minutes then added all dry ingredients except flour. This mix was poured into flour mixed well then left to rise about 1 hour. I punched down the dough, rolled the balls as instructed and allowed the covered sticks to rise again for about 30 minutes. The sticks were given an egg wash then baked for 22 minutes when out of the oven I coated each with butter, additional parm was sprinkled. Yummy would give a 10 if I could.

Very good! My daughter threw the ingredients into our bread machine. However, she added 3 Tablespoons of garlic. Still good, though!

This was my first time making bread dough from scratch, so that could be why my results weren't that great. I thought this recipe was lacking a lot of flavor, and the breadsticks were just ok as far as texture goes. They were a little too dense for me, I prefer a nice light fluffy breadstick. I probably won't use this recipe again for breadsticks, but possibly as a pizza dough starter after I add my own seasonings.

Yummy! These were perfect! My family devoured these so quick. I don't have a bread machine so I mixed by hand. I first mixed the water, sugar and yeast and let that sit until it was foamy. While waiting for that I mixed the flour, spices, parm and salt together. I used dry basil because I didn't have any fresh. Then I added the oil to the yeast and then mixed the flour mix into the yeast. Knead for 5 minutes put in a lightly oiled bowl cover and let rise until doubled. Then I rolled them out. Thanks for the recipe!

This is my "go to" recipe for breadsticks. I brush with a potent garlic butter the last 5-7 minutes in the oven.

The dough didn't rise at all and the dough is extremely bland in flavor. I want to try this again but I am hesitant because of my initial results. They look like dried dough paste on a baking sheet. I may have missed a step somewhere.

Oh my stars these were fantastic! I couldn't stop eating them right from the oven, and I made them to sell at farmer's market! I had no problem selling them, they are so soft and pretty! I followed the directions except I didn't use a bread machine, I used the old fashioned double rise method, and I added in some fresh garlic with the garlic powder. Just combine the water (but make sure it is 110 degrees not 70 to 80, this is proper temperature for yeast to rise) with the yeast and sugar, and let soften for a few minutes. Then, add olive oil, butter, salt, garlic powder (I also grated in a few cloves of fresh garlic to really make it stand out, use a fine grater to make paste) and parmesan. I then added the fresh basil (I had lemon basil on hand-yum!) and the flour. Work in really well with your hands until the dough is smooth, then put in greased bowl, turning once to grease top, cover with towel and let rise to double. Then, turn out and divide into as many pieces as you like (I doubled the recipe and ended up with almost five dozen) to make them as small or big as you want. Roll them into the balls and then roll into ropes, and place on greased cookie sheets, cover again and let rise. Brush tops with butter & garlic salt, sprinkle with parmesan and parsley. Bake for only twelve minutes or so. Then, you can freeze them to store, or reheat room temp sticks in a 300 degree oven just until warm again before you serve. These are so delicious!

So far, so good. They are in the breadmaker right now, but I have a mod I made. I used real garlic so I had to add a little more flour. I'm going to roll them out and then but them with a pizza cutter and let them rise before baking them. I'm also going to brush them with olive oil mixed with herbs and cheese and top them with mozz cheese before baking. I'll let you know how they turn out.

Love that I could use the breadmaker for this dough. My kids had fun helping shape the breadsticks (which turned out looking more like dinosaurs and lumpy snakes). I brushed garlic butter on before baking (using a recipe from this site), and they turned out amazing! They were as good as (or better) than Olive Garden's. We loved them! Next time I'm going to try putting cheese in them.
