This is the only chocolate chip cookie recipe I make. I love making them into bar cookeies and everyone asks me for this recipe!

This is a great recipe. perfect as is. Make sure you don't overcook though. For a twist, add about a 1/3 cup of Cointreau orange liquor into the final mixture. Very delicious.

Look no further! This is the PERFECT recipe for chocolate chip cookies. Don't change a thing and you WILL have perfect chocolate chip cookies. Depending on taste, you can leave them in the oven a few minutes longer for crispier cookies. They do not burn because of the shortening in the dough. You can underbake them by a minute or so if you want a "doughier" cookie. Toss your other recipes, especially the one on the choco-chip bag.

had to make it lactose intolerant friendly with applesauce and carob chips and margarine - but hey - they still tasted decadent - thank you!!

the cookies were tasty, just a little too greasy for me. I think it's because of the shorting and butter combo

I did double the recipe, but added a small box of instant vanilla pudding and used only butter to help with the softness factor. They're great, and will be a big hit at our school function this evening.

These are great after reading the reviews I too used only butter. I had been using a recipe that I have had for a long time and hubby didn't want me to try anything new, but I did anyways, hehe. These are now his and my favorite. Thanks for the great recipe!

The only thing I changed was adding 1 cup of butter, as the other reviewers did, instead of adding shortening and I used milk chocolate chips and it was INCREDIBLE!!!! My husband and I loved them!

Every bite of one of these cookies took me back to my grandmas house. They taste just like her old fashioned cookies. I used all butter, due to the fact I didnt have shortening. I also played with it a little bit. My kids love peanut butter so i added 2 tablespoons and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. These cookies are nothign short of amazing. I will never have to look for another recipe. My family and I are completely hooked. Thank you so much :)

This is a recipe from heaven. I have never had any luck finding a soft chocolate chip recipe until now. This is to die for recipe and all should try it. I used butter instead of shortening, and it makes my cookies taste out of this world. I also used mini chips which created more of a chocolate taste with every bite. You should really give this a try, it is easy and takes no time at all.

I have now made these twice, and they are absolutely fantastic! They are crunchy on the outside, and chewy on the inside. Even after a couple days, they are soft. My 10-year-old says they are "the best cookies" he's ever had! I used all butter, because that is what I had. They are still wonderful. I used 1 C semi-sweet chips, and 1 C milk choc chips.

I made this recipe as written. At the suggestion of other reviewers, I used butter flavored shortening. It was very good, but very sweet! Next time I will cut the white sugar in half.

Delicious fool-proof cookies! They have been enjoyed by friends, family, and at a recent picnic. The only negative aspect of these cookies is my desire to consume the entire batch by myself.
