Soft Breadsticks
SUBMITTED BY:
Nancy Johnson
"I've been making these tasty breadsticks that go with almost any meal for years. Since they use ingredients like flour, sugar, baking powder and milk, it's convenient and inexpensive to mix up a batch. -Nancy Johnson, Connersville, Indiana"

These breadsticks were ok. I might make them again. They weren't as soft and fluffy as I had hoped however, they are very quick and easy to make and taste pretty good. As others mentioned, I had to add another 1/4 cup flour as the dough was very sticky. I brushed the breadsticks with melted butter before baking and topped with oregano, salt and parmesan cheese. They only took about 10 minutes to bake. Next time I think I will turn down the oven heat to around 400 degrees.

If you love pizzeria-style breadsticks (as we do), you have to make these. I've been looking for this recipe for years! I followed the recipe pretty much exactly, except after turning them in the butter I sprinkled them with garlic powder and parmesan cheese. That last step is what really makes them great for us. And be sure not to overbake them. I think 12 minutes at 425 with just about perfect for me.

These were really good and super easy to make. They don't rise too much in the oven so be sure not to roll them too flat. I didn't use sesame seeds, as I don't care for them, I instead covered the bread sticks with cheese, and after baking them sprayed them with butter and sprinkled some Italian seasonings. Yummy! I also ate them with super easy bread stick dip, also found on allrecipes.com

These breadsticks were so tasty! The dough was very sticky, so make sure you flour your counter as well as the top of the dough as you roll it out. I also dusted the breadsticks lightly with garlic powder before baking. So yummy!

This was a nice and easy recipe. Like other reviewers I added an extra 1/4 cup of flour, then I placed the breadsticks on a greased baking sheet and brushed the tops with melted butter combined with garlic and oregano. I think next time I might add a little more topping, they were a little bland, but nice and chewy.

These weren't soft. But overall they are worth making, if you add a little flavor. They were not very tasty without extra butter and garlic added into the mix.

I thought these were great! I loved the crunchy buttery bottoms. I added 1/4 tsp garlic powder to the mix, and sprinkled the tops with garlic powder. I may next time use garlic salt on the top for an extra kick. I handled these as little as possible and they rose well for me. A new favorite.

The breadsticks were a little too sweet for my taste. I added some garlic powder and oregano for more flavoring. The dough itself was very sticky; I believe I added about 1/2 to 1 cup of extra flour while kneading. Also, the temperature was too high, thus it didn't take 14 minutes to bake. Next time I'll bake at 190 degrees C. Nonetheless, the breadsticks are not too bad if eaten with cream cheese. Thanks!

I found this recipe to be fine without the additional flour that others recommended. Instead of the sesame seeds, I dipped them in the butter and herb topping found in the recipe for Cupid's Breadsticks on this website.

Made these for christmas. Used oregeno, mrs. dash table blend, garlic salt, and parmesan cheese, instead of sesame seeds. Everyone loved them.
