Great cookies! I didn't have shortening, so I used butter, but they still turned out wonderfully. My children helped to make them and had a great time rolling the dough in the cinnamon sugar!

A very good cookie recipe! My first time to make or eat a snickerdoodle, but it won't be my last! Thanks for the recipe!

My grandma handed this recipe down to me over 20 years ago. My coworkers bug me if I don't bring them in on a regular basis. Lately I have been adding nutmeg and cardamom to the sugar/cinnamon mixture.

These are super easy and delicious. My husband, who is a tough cookie critic (he makes gourmet-caliber cookies himself), said that these tasted like bakery cookies to him. Great recipe!

Awesome, easy recipe: here's a hint though- I didn't have 2t cream of tartar on hand, so I substituted it out for 2t white vinegar, and they turned out perfect!

I never had these before so I thought I would try them. I just thought they were okay, but others thought they were excellent. Recipe is simple and you can't go wrong.

A really excellent cookie!! I did half butter and half shortening as a preference and made the balls a little bigger than directed. THESE ARE SO GOOD and chewy. YUM. Definitely a keeper.

Super easy cookies. I made these for a class meeting at my house and they were a huge hit. I added cardamom powder to the cinnamon sugar mixture and added a little to the dough as well.

This recipe is the best I have found. I prefer the cookie to be a little softer like the classic Otis Spunkmeyer, but other then that these were absolutely wonderful. Try them with a cup of coffee in the morning :)

These cookies were so good that I finally decided to sign-up so I could rate them! When they first came out of the oven and tasted them, they didn't have much flavor; but after they cooled, I tried a bite and they tasted amazing! I have never made Snickerdoodles before but will definitely make again. I would like to try butter Crisco next time instead of the original...probably adds even more flavor...yum!

Excellent. My Dad is a connoisseur of snickerdoodles and he loved these. I also made them for my students and I had none left to take home to my very disappointed husband. Thank you.

Update: I still had 2 sticks of shortening that needed to be used up, so I prepped the rest of the ingredients and then opened the shortening, only to find that 1 was bad (at least it looked bad & I didn't want to chance it). So, I used 1 stick of shortening, 1 butter & 1 margarine. I wound up with cookies flatter than pancakes. They still tasted good & weren't too crisp, but I will be using shortening from now on. Original review: I used this recipe because I had some shortening I needed to use up, I prefer to use butter or butter flavored shortening when baking, but these turned out excellent!

Easy recipe!! I made these during the Holiday season and everybody loved them! If you like your snickerdoodles a little bit softer, just leave them out and the air will soften them. Enjoy!

these were just perfect! i used half butter/half shortening and they were perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. could have done with a few minutes in the fridge to keep them from spreading quite so much. my son couldn't get enough of them!
