We really enjoyed these beans. Like many others, I used beef broth. I like my greenbeans pretty done (not very crunchy), so I used more than the recommended quantity of liquid. I also added the bacon back in right at the end. These are awesome.

We thought this was great. As other reviewers suggested, I first steamed the beans for about 5 minutes. I also used chicken broth instead of water, and threw in some red pepper flakes. These were delicious!!!

I made this recipe as described except I steamed the beans for 5 minutes just to give them a head start. Me & my husband absolutely loved them but this is the first time I've made anything like this so I have nothing else to compare it to. I prefer my vegtables crisp so the recipe was ok for me, but if you like your vegtables mushy, you'll definiely have to cook them longer or use frozen beans. This dish is a bit labour intensive for me to be making too often, but I'll definitely be making this recipe again soon!

These are pretty darn good but pretty close to how I've been making them for years. I cut up the bacon and fried it until crisp, removed the bacon, drained most of the grease and added the onion and garlic. Right before serving, I added the bacon - makes all the difference. Next time, I will fry the bacon whole, remove and crumble (probably easier).

I loved these green beans. They seem so comforting with all that bacon and onion. I used pre-cooked bacon and just browned it with the onions in a little bit of oil. I cooked mine for about 30 minutes to get to the texture that I like.

These were awesome! This was my first time actually making fresh green beans and I don't think I will make them any other way. They were gone within minutes of hitting the table! Thanks!

These were really good with my Easter dinner! I did make some slight changes: I only used 3 slices of bacon which provided just the right amount of flavor without being too greasy. I used chicken stock instead of water. Then, instead of black pepper I put about 2 pinches of crushed red pepper when I added the stock to provide just a bit of zip. Yummy!

Wow! I loved this recipe. My husband kept going back for more. I followed the recipe close. I added a little more bacon, more onion and garlic. It was a wonderful addition to our Easter dinner.

Used frozen green beans and added potatoe and packet of chicken broth with cup of water. I like it spicy so I also added red pepper flakes.

hit it with some (few shakes) red wine vinegar or apple cidar vinegar. It will give it an authentic southern taste to die for

I really loved this recipe. I used frozen green beans and therefore I omitted the water, but I'm sure it'll taste that much better using fresh green beans. I chopped bacon into small enough pieces so that every biteful would have bacon in it. As a low-carber a good side dish is hard to find and this recipe makes sticking to the diet that much easier. Thank you for this great recipe. As a matter of fact, I'm making this again tonight! Bon apetit.
