I made this yesterday for my husband, as he's big on sweet tea. Yes. Thumbs up. He approves! I'll be making the sweet tea like this from now on.

I don't think it gets any more refreshing! This is a great Sweet Tea. I doubled the recipe using family size tea bags (6 of them) and about 1 3/4 cups of sugar. The baking soda does the trick to keep the tea nice and smooth. Thanks cookincode3 I'm sure we will be enjoying this all summer!

I traveled to the south one summer and have been going through sweet tea withdrawls ever since. I have not found a store bought or home made that even compared to the sweet tea from the south until this recipe! Thank you soooo much!

This is perfect sweet tea! Didn't change a thing. I had been trying for so long to make perfect iced tea (and consistently) and this recipe nails it. It is not the least bit bitter either for such a long steep. Thanks for posting it.

Wonderful. I substituted 1/4 splenda for 1/4 cup of the sugar and it still turned out great.

I love this tea! Not bitter at all. It's really sweet - so cut down the sugar if you like it more middle of the road. I love it this way but a few people I've served it too have complained. I also made it with splenda and it came out great.

Very good! Could definitely tell the difference in this tea with the addition of the baking soda! Next time, I'll add a bigger pinch of baking soda. I don't think I added enough this time.

Great sweet tea! I've never heard of the baking soda idea, there was no bitterness though! Next time I'll let it steep longer, it could have been stronger, and I may reduce the sugar a little. Thanks!

This is great tea. I had to make mine with chamomile because thats all I had and I was dying to make this so I thought I'd give it a shot. Turned out very nice. Pretty sweet, so I think next time I'll cut the sugar down to 1/2 cup. I can't wait to try this with all different kinds of tea! UPDATE: Ive made this several times now with black tea and its perfect! Also, I cut the sugar down to 1/4 cup and that works for us. Love this tea! :)

this is the best sweet tea ever, thats what my 3 year old said. i used 2 family size tea bags since that what i had. i didnt pour the hot tea into my glass jar, i was afraid it would break. so i boiled 2 cups of water in a large pot, removed from the heat and added the baking soda & tea bags covered and let sit for 15 mins. then i added the sugar and when it was desolved i added the 6 cups of cold water. then i poured it into my glass jug.

Very good tea with no bitter aftertaste! I only let mine steep 10 minutes. I subbed 1/4 cup of organic agave in place of the sugar. I will be making this again soon.

Iced Tea has always been a staple for me in the spring and summer months, even though I have always hated that bitter aftertaste. Well, the pinch of baking soda takes care of that! Thank you, thank you for making my favorite drink even better! I add fresh lemon slices to the pitcher (and sometimes lime slices, too).

Had to try this since I am a "yankee" who recently moved to Alabama. It was easy. I only added about 5 cups of water and it tasted like restaurant quality to me.
