I should give this recipe 10 stars. I gave the recipe to my grandma, who was addicted to Mc D's tea, but now she can just make it at home! I too love making this and its definitely way less bitter! Thanks for a great iced tea!

I LOVE this recipe. Over the summer, I fell in love with Chick-fil-A sweet tea. This has become my new favorite. I did reduce the sugar to 1/2 cup, but the sweetness is a matter of personal taste anyway. The baking soda takes out the "bite" and this is, as the recipe says smoooth. Smooth & yummy. Thanks!

This was DELICIOUS!!! I ran across this recipe and whipped it up in about 20 minutes. I served it with my Sunday dinner and my family loves it. Bye-bye diet cola, this will be a staple at my house from now on.

Maybe I'm just not used to sweet tea, but I thought this was only okay. It was very, very sweet for my taste and a little too strong. I only steeped the tea bags for 10 minutes, but maybe the kind I used - Ceylon Assam - was simply too strong. I felt it needed some lemon or lime to give it additional flavour. Maybe I'm just an iced tea, not a sweet tea kind of girl. I liked the idea of the baking soda though. I would definitely recommend filling the glass pitcher with hot tap water and letting it warm up for a few minutes before filling it with the boiling water and tea bags, or the glass is very likely to crack!

Love the method of making this tea (the pinch of baking powder). Great idea. Way too much sugar for us though. Will make this a lot but I'll keep it unsweetened and let people sweeten themselves. Thanks for the recipe.

Excellent tea. I had no idea that baking soda could be used but it made the tea very clear. I used Splenda so it was sugar free also. Thanks for this method, I will use it from now on.

This is so good! A nice alternative to pop this summer. I don't understand what the baking soda does, but I follow the recipe and it is great!

The summer hit of the house. The first batch I made was with Black Chai tea. My wife loved it. I made the second with Lipton's regular tea; it was less spicy but great.

Great recipe. I tried adding 1/2 cup lemon juice and the result was superb. Now, I make it on daily basis as my refreshing drink while on diet. My tip: skip the sugar and add 1 cup of unsweetened pineapple juice to 3 cups of this recipe without the sugar. The result is one liter of refreshing drink to enjoy while dieting with only 133 calories (of pineapple). You can also use orange juice or whatever unsweetened juice you like. But I use pineapple for the fat burning property of it.

So I just made the tea doubling the recipe to make a gallon. It's the best I have had since my grandmother stopped making sweet tea. Beautiful clear red color. I did make a few changes -- insted of the individual tea bags I used 2 gallon sized bags and only 8 cups cold water and ice to fill the rest of the way - no patientce to wait for it to chill in our house lol BTW dont forget the lemon wedge it is even better than I thought it could be
