I just have to weigh in on this recipe! I am not much of a cook, I cook the same things over and over. My daughter asked for pulled pork for her graduation party. I thought about buying it already prepared through a BBQ restaurant. I was searching through the recipes on the internet and noticed this one had tons of positive reviews.....which I read and thought I can do this. So simple and fantastic! My husband was like make sure you have a back up plan....that was not needed as this pulled pork recipe was so stinking good that my daughter was happy and everyone at the party said how wonderful it tasted. I did leave out the thyme and the oil and added salt and pepper. Will make it again and again.

cut the recipe in half and used 2 pounds of chicken vs the pork. was good but nothing amazing. would be good (and easy) to make for a pot luck or to have on hand for a cook out.

This was absolutely wonderful. I cooked it overnight in my crockpot and it was so tender and practically fell apart.

My husband can't stop talking about this! It was really good and I made it just as it's stated. Mine was shred-able in 6 hours for a nearly 4 lb roast. Thanks for the recipe. I was looking for one that didn't just ask for a bottle of bbq sauce thrown on top and this was perfect.

I pulled out my measuring cups and spoons and followed this recipe to the "T." The only exception was I didn't have an "extra large" onion so I cut up two medium ones. The flavor was good but I found it to be too runny for pulled pork, not nearly thick enough. I don't mind "sloppy joes" type stuff but when it makes the (toasted) buns like mush, I'm not terribly happy. We went through several napkins per person. Glad I didn't make this as a first-time dish for guests (a golden, rule, I know, but I break it constantly). I also expected it to be a little spicier - I think because of the chilli powder- but it wasn't spicy at all. For the work included in this recipe, I'd rather throw a pork roast in the crockpot with some good high-quality bbq sauce and let it be. All the extra work wasn't worth it. Sorry.

I am so not a cook but I did try this recipe. 1st time I left the fat on cause I didn't know any better. 2nd time cut the fat off. I left the garlic out because my husband has an intolerance to garlic. Once I used brown sugar BBQ sauce and 2nd time I used Maple BBQ sauce. Everyone that I served it to loved it and I have shared this recipe with many of them. Thanks so much!

Great easy recipe!. I used about 2lbs roast and cooked on low for about 7 hrs. Didnt look at it until end of day and it was perfect.

Great recipe! If you think your pork isn't tender enough. Lower the heat to Med or Low and go for 8 hrs. Also, if you like the smoked flavor, add some liquid smoke. I used hickory and it tastes perfect!
