LOVED LOVED LOVED this recipe. I did follow the advice of other reviewers. I cooked and drained the ground beef, then browned the onion in the beef fat and drained before adding to crockpot. I also added a packet of ranch dressing mix and used black beans instead of kidney beans and used two cans of mexican rotel tomatoes instead of plain tomatoes. Served with shredded cheese, tortilla chips, sour cream and fresh chopped cilantro.

I was surprised how much this tasted like a mild, soupy chili. The flavor is good, but it could definitely use more seasoning - chili powder and green chiles. Next time, I might omit some or all of the water for a thicker consistency.

This is one of my favorites! I was given this from a friend who got this at a Weight Watchers meeting. When I make this, I use ground turkey. I don't add the chilies (I don't like them) and add a can of black beans and pinto beans as well. I add lots of garlic and mexican stewed tomatoes. The recipe also includes adding a package of Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing mix. I add it if I have a pack in my pantry. Not necessary for a delicious meal. Everyone I have made this for loves it!

Great recipe. I used moose burger and Jalepeno diced peppers rather than green chili peppers. WOW, too hot. I added ranch dressing mix per suggestions from others. Did not notice a difference but maybe the Jalepeno peppers killed the ranch taste. Also used creamed corn rather than whole kernel corn because that is all I had. Seemed to be ok except you can't see corn in the soup.

This soup was delicious! I made a couple of changes to spice things up a bit. I added 2 packets of taco seasoning mix and about 1 teaspoon of hot chilli powder. It was just the right spiciness for our taste! I will definitely be making this again. It was so simple to put it all together and it was ready to eat when I got home from work.

This recipe was so easy! The other reason why I liked this so much was because you could have these ingredients in your pantry whenever you wanted to make this. I used ground chicken and sauteed that with the onion. I also added some of the taco seasoning to the meat and the remainder to the pot. One thing I did that I felt added a ton of flavor was chop up some fresh cilantro and top the soup with the dollop of sour cream and chips, as the recipe says, but sprinkle each bowl with some fresh cilantro. It was delicious!

This was very tasty but not at all spicy (even though I used "spicy chili beans"). I did not add any water and it was still very liquid. I'm taking the rest of it to a potluck tonight and think I will drain off the excess liquid so it can be eated on a plate.

I've made a nearly identical recipe for years. I love the ease, convenience and overall result. The difference in the recipes is that the one I've used doesn't use a crockpot. You can just brown the meat in a dutch oven/stock pot and dump all the other ingredients in. It's ready to eat in 30 mins. Good, hearty and fast! Great for a quick weeknight meal.

I absoultely love this soup. I used only black beans though. I don't like kidney beans so I omitted them. I think I put a little more corn than called for also because I simple adore corn. My husband and I gobbled this soup up. A friend even stopped by on this day (not a planned visit). We offered her some soup and she ate two bowls! Fabulous! I highly recommend it!

I used ground turkey and added beef boullion to the mixture to trick my boyfriend into thinking he's eating beef. I only put it on about two hours ago, but it already tastes amazing and I can't wait to eat it for dinner.

Very tasty and super easy recipe to make. I cooked the onions first before adding the beef. Cooked thoroughly and then added the remaining ingredients and transferred to crock pot. I have also substituted one of the cans with black beans. I added a package of Ranch dressing (the dry mix). It seems to give it a really nice flavor. This recipe is pretty versatile. You can use ground turkey to make it healthier. Great meal to make ahead of time and easy to alter so you can feed a large crowd. Thanks

A staple for me and my family. I substitute a small can of rotel tomatoes for the green chiles. I also add one envelope of ranch dressing mix, which really kicks up the seasoning.

I don't know what I did that was different from everyone else. I followed the recipe to the letter, but we found the soup to not have very much flavor. I should have cut down the water to only one cup rather then two.

This soup is delicious. I made the modifications a couple of other reviewers mentioned-adding beer instead of water really gives it a great flavor and replacing the beef with turkey lowers the fat a little. My husband has been asking for this almost daily since the first time I made it.
