This is a very good recipe for the person at work all day. I am not a bean person so I only added 1 can of kidney beans, I didn't add any water at all, I also followed others advice and added cumin and chili powder.

This recipe is fabulous, easy and versatile! HEALTHIER OPTION: I prefer to add fresh veggies, chopped(carrots, celery, mushrooms, zucchini) I subtitute ground turkey for the beef. This is great served over tortilla chips, sprinkled with nutritional yeast and with a dollop of plain yougurt. I have not served this for anyone that did not absolutely LOVE IT!!!

This was very popular with my family but I wanted more substance. It just tasted like a bowl full of beans. Maybe more veggies next time and less beans.

Came out more like chili rather than soup. I liked it spooned over a baked potato the following day.

We love this recipe! I make it all the time for my husband and two daughters. I only use one can of crushed tomatoes instead of the two cans of diced since we are not tomato fans. We top it with Fritos, sour cream and shredded cheddar and eat bowl after bowl!

I love this recipe and so does everyone I make it for! I have used this countless times to make meals for those in need, new babies, sick friends, etc and everyone loves, loves it! I follow the recipe exactly and one thing I use for sure is Busch's brand of chili beans...the best for this recipe! Thank you so much...I have probably made it at least 50 times!!!!!!!!!!

Like others, I doctored this a little- as written, I'd give 3-4 stars, but with some extras, it is between 4 & 5! I took the advice of others & sauteed the onion w/ the meat (I used turkey) and the taco seasoning. Added the rest of the ingredients minus the water and used a bottle of beer instead. Also threw in some cayenne & chili powder for flavor/heat and would use a jalapeno in the future if I had one. Served w/ tortilla chips & shredded cheddar. Perfect for winter!

I love to make this in the fall and winter. It's so easy! I don't add the water, but I do add a can of black beans and I use ground turkey.

This soup was pretty good, but I've had better taco soup. The 2 C. of water is too much. It really waters down the soup.

Wow! I was suprised at how good such a simple recipe turned out to be. This was VERY flavorful. I added a little sour cream to each bowl before serving.

This is a great recipe base for sure, but I have tweaked it a little. I like to make it thick like chili, so I omit the water. I also add more taco seasoning and throw in some chopped jalapeños (not too much, just enough for a little flavour). Like others, I usually serve it up with some cheese, sour cream and nacho chips. And sometimes I don't have the right kind of beans, so I just throw in navy, black, kidney; whatever combination I have in the pantry goes in and it always turns out great.

Easy to make but not as spicy as I would have liked. Next time I will add an extra can of chilis and some extra seaoning.

this is a great recipe! I cook it on the stove(simmering) for a couple of hrs. its a large recipe for myself so I usually give some leftovers to friends. all my friends love it! it freezes well but I like sharing the love. changes Ive made: brown beef with a few cloves of minced garlic. add an extra half cup of water or so to keep it less thick in the end. I use an extra 4 oz can of sliced jalapenos & half a red & green pepper chopped. I use one pack spicy taco seasonig and half a pack regular seasoning. I serve over whole wheat tortilla chips. topped with cheddar & cilantro. wonderful dish & soooo easy. thanks!

How Fanstastic!! I absolutely loved this recipe, so did hubby, daughter and my "picky-eater" son. I did make a few alterations however: I omitted the corn simply because I have never liked corn added to any of my recipes, I reduced water to 1 1/2 cups, added 1 can mild Ro-Tel & lastly I used 2 pkgs. taco seasonings instead of 1, just for the added kick. It was a bit spicy, but for us - just right. Slow-cooked on high for 3 hours and WOW ....! Thanks so much for the recipe. Definitely a keeper.

We all thought this was great! I omitted the kidney beans because we don't like them, but other than that it was fantastic! I served it with sour cream (which made it very creamy - yum), tortilla chips and sprinkled cheese. Great meal for a cold fall night! Thanks so much for sharing!

I have made this recipe several times for pot-lucks and always get asked for the recipe. I put Green beans and one can of potato soup in mine also with 2 cups beef broth. Terrific with cheese and sour cream on top.

I really wasn't expecting this recipe to be so good...it was fantastic! And so easy. I live in Kenya so I had to change some of the ingredients...didn't have chili beans or tomato sauce so I used 2 large cans of tomatoes blended, 2 cans of kidney beans & 1 cup water. I also added some garlic and cumin. Simmered for only 4 hours. It was so easy and my family devoured it! Excellent recipe! I served it with cornbread (homesteader recipe from this site). Yum!
