Probably the best soup i have had in a long time! My dad is the family cook and we were getting tired of cooking the same things over again, so we tried this. We followed the recipe, but we also added 1 cup of chicken broth in place of 1 cup of water. He also added fresh sweet corn (not canned) as well as a can of black beans and fresh chopped jalapenos. If you like zip to your food then add these extra ingrediants to your pot. We lastly used a half pound of ground beef and a half ground turkey, and a pack of ranch dressing.

The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because it is lacking one very important ingredient. Adding a packet of ranch dressing mix is KEY to making this recipe a sucess! I have been making this soup for about 5 years now. I make it often since everyone likes it (including my picky 4 year old and my husband who isn't "a soup guy"), it's super easy, and I always have the ingredients on hand. I like black beans instead of chili beans but that's just personal preference.

This is very good. I have made this numerous times. Now I just make it on the stove top instead of using the slow cooker. It still tastes just as good.

I love this recipe. I use chicken breast instead of beef and a lot more beans(kidney, black, pento and chili). I take the chicken out about 30 minutes before serving and shred it. I also use a home made mix of taco seasoning instead of store bought but that's just a taste preference. Overall it's awesome and a great for days when I don't feel like making a big mess in the kitchen. Thanks!

Use your favorite salsa (mine is chipotle) as a substitute for a can of tomatoes to give this recipe extra kick. Its a rainy day staple!

I am surprised people who rated this said it was bland. I am a salt fanatic and usually add more spices to recipes too. But this didn't need it, I thought. It was great. I used leftover ground beef from the night before and it worked like a charm!

This taco soup is awesome! We eat this pretty regularly. So easy, good for you, inexpensive...what else can you ask for? I use ground turkey when I make this, and even BF who (always) prefers beef loves it. I've made in the crock pot and also on top of the stove - great both ways, but don't use as much water as it calls for. I find if I cook it on top of the stove it thickens up a little with time. Love the addition of chips, cheese and sour cream.

Very good and SOOOO easy. This is going in to my file as a great throw down recipe for days that I just don't really have time to cook. I added a can of fire roasted diced tomotoes and a can of diced jalapenos. My husband and I like heat! Ladeled it over tortilla chips, sprinkled a little chedder cheese on top with a dollap of sour cream, YUMO!

I followed the recipe exactly because it was my first time making it- delicious! Husband ate it when he got home and kept it on low for me and I ate about 3 hours later...it held up well and we both loved it! I also made some cornbread to go with it, so put a chunk of that in the bottom of the bowl and topped with the soup/chili...yum! Thanks for sharing- definitely a keeper!

Absolutely delicious! Family, company and the kids loved this dish. Took a few suggestions from other reviews. No water just extra tomato sauce, diced tomatoes with chilies instead of a can of each. Added taco seasoning, onions & ranch to meat as I cooked it. So good and so very convenient. Was able to toss it together @ 8am & have a stress free dinner that evening.

Yum! I love recipes that call for opening cans and dumping in ingredients - that turn out yummy in the end! Based on another review, I substituted tomato soup for the tomato sauce. And, I added some chopped celery as well (another vegetable - never hurts!) Another reviewer said this was "chili" - take it from this Texan....this ain't chili! It's definitely taco soup. And, very good. I did make the mistake of draining a couple of the ingredients before adding them just because I didn't realize how important the juice was. I'll keep it all in there next time. This one's definitely a keeper.

We LOVED this recipe. I calculated it for 4 because I have a two quart slow cooker. I added a can of black beans instead of the kidney and chili beans and tomato juice instead of sauce (was out of sauce) Ate it on broken up tortilla chips and cheese and topped with sour cream. Can't wait to make it again. Thanks for sharing.

We liked this soup, but I must agree with some of the other reviews: This soup tastes like chili. That's OK for me because I LOVE chili.I added an onion and some olives. Also I used only a half pound of meat.
