It was okay, turns out noone in my family likes swiss steak very much. If you like swiss steak, I'm sure it would be tasty.

I did this one in the oven since I did not have time in the morning to put in slow cooker. It came out wonderfully in 1 1/2 hours. YUMMY!

This was great. I did add fresh mushrooms and half a green pepper. I also just sliced baby carrots in half. I did brown the meat and not the veggies. Then I poured between 1/4 and 1/2 a cup of red wine in the pan to get all the flavor. After it had cooked for several hours I checked on it and added a can of mushroom soup to thicken the sauce a bit....YUMMY! Thanks for the recipe goodcook57.

I made this exactly as directed and it was great. I will make again and vary the ingredients by adding bell peppers, stewed tomatoes etc. Thanks!

This was very tasty. I would call it beef stew. I didn't brown the meat first, and it turned out fine. I also left out the carrot and added green pepper instead. I also added minced garlic, 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper and only used 1 tbsp brown sugar. It was sweet enough. I will make this again someday.

Turned out very tasty and tender. I marinated my steak cubes in garlic and steak spice with a bit of olive oil over night, otherwise, I didn't change a thing. Would make again, Thanks.

Very good & fast! I did not brown meat - just threw in crock pot. Also added a jar of beef gravy. So fast, will use again.

I was out of a few things, used 1/2 cup ketchup instead of worcestershire and brown sugar, only one can of tomatoes, and added 1 teaspoon "better than bouillon" beef mixed with 1/4 cup warm water. I agree that there is really no need to brown the meat or cook the veggies in this recipe, it comes out great with everything thrown in raw and saves time and mess. Easy to add/subtract veggies to taste. Delicious!!

One of the reviews left out the celery and onion. And replaced them with mushrooms and garlic. I used that version of the recipe and added 2 small cans of mushrooms and a teaspoon of garlic. I also added a couple beef bouillon cubes. Probably the only thing I would change is to add a little more garlic. I never expected this to be that good!

This was good. I thought that it had good flavor but a bit mushy. My 3 boys wouldnt eat alot of it. Too many veggies I think. Maybe I would try again with less in the dish and more on the side. Thanks

I have never made swiss steak before and thought it might just be an "alright" meal. I was surprised at how easy is was. I did make some changes based on my families likes. Instead of carrots and celery (my kids wont eat it) I added a small can of cut up mushrooms, garlic and mushroom diced tomatoes and a diced fresh tomatoe. I didn't have 10 hours so I cooked it on high for 4 hours then turned to low for 2-3 more hours. I left this and a bag of boil-in-bag rice with the sitter. When I arrived home that night there was NONE left. They said it was so good they couldn't stop eating it! When my husband arrived home he said that there was barley enough for him. I assume it was delicious (since I didn't even get any). I will definatly make this again and again.

Not that this wasn't good, because it was..I guess I am just used to making my swiss steak with stewed tomatoes and adding green pepper, garlic, onions and mushrooms into the mix. I did want to give this a try though, because of the good reviews, and as I said it was good..just to me it seemed to be lacking a little bit in the flavor department. Thank you for offering the recipe though, and I am glad I got a chance to give it a try.

Pretty good. It was more like stew than what I thought it would be (but what do expect for meat and vegetables in a crock pot - right?) but I will make this again.

I didn't think this would be that good, but I had everything on hand and love crockpot meals, so I gave it a whirl. We all loved it!! I didn't have time to do the browning so I skipped that part. Was great without it. I also used bison round steak, and lots of baby carrots. Used only one can (14 oz) of petite diced tomatoes, and this was plenty. Served with brown rice.

I hadn't made swiss steak in years and actually couldn't remember how. This was a fantastic recipe. We ate it for two nights and I still had left over sauce so browned some chicken thighs poured the sauce over and topped it with some provolone cheese and popped it in the oven. Really really good. Thanks for a new favorite

This was a great recipe! The whole family loved it. I will definitely make it again. I used london broil cut steak and it turned out very tender. You could use more or less of the brown sugar depending on your taste. We used the amount called for in recipe and it was perfect for us.
