This is such an easy recipe. I seasoned the meat with grill seasoning and salt and pepper before pouring in the root beer. Delicious!

Not great...at all. Based on the other reviews, I tried using a pork shoulder. It was totally chewy and really hard to shred...even after all day in the crock pot. I could not tell a difference w/ the root beer either. Maybe next time I'll try the tenderloin, but it was SO expensive.

My husband was skeptical, but really enjoyed the slightly sweet flavor that the root beer added to the pork. Thanks for the suggestion!

My husband said this was the best pulled pork he had ever had. Needless to say I was completely satisfied as well.

This definitely gets extra stars for ease, except for cleaning the caramelized tonic (pop/soda/whatever) out of my crock pot, of course! I bought a shoulder instead of the tenderloin and did a light rub of Cajun spices before hand, though I don't think it needed it and wouldn't bother next time. I flipped the knob to low and took a nap but when I got up I realized I hadn't plugged in the cooker! I cranked it up to high for a few hours to compensate. It was a bit of a struggle getting the meat off the bone -- don't know if that was due to the high heat or what -- but it was definitely tender. After draining the root beer and fat I had to hand-shred the meat and then mixed it in with some very spicy BBQ sauce (Stubbs Spicy) and added a splash more root beer to mellow the heat. Served it with tart slaw and a sweet baked beans and it was very good. I'll be making this again soon for a football party but will use a boneless shoulder if I can find it, won't bother with the rub, and will use the proper setting. The sauce you chose really makes this recipe, I think. The tonic just keeps the meat nice and moist while cooking. Thanks for a super-easy recipe!

I love pulled pork and this was my first attempt at making this. I wasn’t sure about the root beer but surprisingly it worked out really well. I think next time I might try ginger beer and see what I get. For the sauce I used a chipotle bbq sauce and I thought I died and gone to heaven. This was so easy to do and will definitely make this again! Thanks for the recipe.

Sooo good & sooo easy! No need to buy a tenderloin, I used a cheaper cut - boneless pork ribeye roast I think. It was so tender it was falling apart!! I used Sweet Baby Ray's Honey Barbeque and returned a little of the drained rootbeer-cooking-liquid and warmed for another hour. Husband requested as a weekly meal! Sooo good!

This was awesome. I put a rub of garlic salt and Cookie's All Purpose Seasoning on it the night before and then put it in the crock pot in the morning.

I made this for a Halloween party that we attended this year. Everyone was bringing soups and food that could sit in a crock pot and be served whenever everyone felt like eating. I decided to bring this, so that we had something a little more substantial. Everyone LOVED this pulled pork! I used pork shoulder, rubbed it in garlic, salt and pepper and browned it prior to putting it in the crock-pot. I made two whole roasts, so the cooking time was much longer, and after we pulled the meat we just put it back in the crock and skipped the oven step. I have made it twice since then, and I have people calling me for the recipe!

This was fantastic! After the pork was cooked through, I drained the rootbeer, shredded the pork, and then added the bbq sauce. Everyone loved them! I used the leftovers to make pork quesadillas the next day, and those were also great!

Yum! The pork just fell right apart. It tasted great. I didn't have to fuss with it. I added just a dash of liquid smoke to the pot, but I don't know that it made any difference. I used our favorite barbecue sauce, I only used just enough of it, you don't want the pork swimming in BBQ sauce. Then I let that sit on low for another hour or so. Then you put a little BBQ sauce on the bun, spoon the pork onto it, and YUM! The pork was super juicy and tender. We'll definitely have this again. We used pork tenderloin because it was on sale for a really good deal. I might also try this with another cut of pork, or maybe pork chops without the BBQ sauce. Anyway, the rootbeer + pork idea works great.

I used 3lb pork tenderloin, put 1/4 sweet onion & sm bell pepper 2 sm garlic cloves chopped. Sprinkle pork with barbecue seasoning and then placed overtop of veg. Pour 12oz beer over and pour 1/4 of bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's sauce on pork, on low for 4hrs. Drained juices put veg & pork back in along with remaining sauce plus another half a both and cook on med another 1hr. Pork was very tender but too sweet. Next time I'll either use spicier sauce or leave plain & add whatever sauce guest want.

Awesome!!! I choose this recipe after reading all the positive reviews. This was my very first time making pulled pork and let me tell you it came out perfectly, I couldn't believe it! I too like some of the other reviewers used pork shoulder, followed it exactly EXCEPT I added hot sauce to give it an extra kick. Let me tell you if I can cook it and it come out so good that my boyfriend (King Picky Eater) asked for seconds anyone can do this! I'm Brand New to the site (and to the kitchen for that matter) but can't wait to see what other easy, tasty recipes I can find.

Excellent recipe! I was skeptical about the root beer, but the pork came out great! I think the root beer gave a slight sweet taste to the BBQ sauce (used Sweet Baby Rays Original). Next time I will make my own BBQ sauce. For those that said that the sauce was too runny, make sure you drain out the root beer from the crock pot.

This recipe couldn't have been any easier and turned out fantastic. I made this for dinner on Halloween for my family and they all loved it. I didn't use the exact amounts that the recipe called for but other than followed it exactly. Used slightly more root beer and pork. Am making this again today for a friend that just had surgery. This will be in my frequent rotation.
