These are now the only mashed potatoes I ever make! I have had TONS of compliments on these potatoes and its great to be able to make them ahead of time. Definitely not a great idea if you're counting calories!

I'm not sure what went wrong. I followed the recipe exactly, potatoes were tasty but had the consistancy of glue.

This recipe was GREAT! We are usually always waiting for the potatoes to get done at our holiday meals. With this recipe I made the potatoes ahead of time and everything was done and hot on the table. I did use the clean towel trick to keep them from getting runny. I especially liked that the leftovers were just as tasty the second day as they were the first!

Very good recipe - I used garlic and herbed cream cheese. I tried the trick of putting a towel just under the lid to absorb moisture and it worked well. Great for saving a burner when lots of cooking going on. Thanks for sharing!

You really can't go wrong with a recipe calling for cream cheese and sour cream. We took this to a potluck and did not bring a drop of it home. Very good!

The ultimate in convenience coupled with taste--this recipe's a keeper! Hint: Since you're using the slow cooker anyway, cut up the taters and put them into the slow cooker, add the broth, and let them cook themselves. When they're tender, proceed with the rest of the recipe. I made this to feed 32 people (no, it didn't all fit in one slow cooker)--good stuff. I also left out the butter, as the taters were really rich. I froze the leftovers and, re-cooked, they still taste great.

This was really good but there were some problems. I followed the recipe pretty closely except I added a couple of teaspoons of oregano. As for the problems, first, the garlic taste is very weak. If you like the taste of garlic, you'll need to add some raw garlic to the final product. Also, I made the potatoes the day before serving and they were absolutely delicious right after being mixed with the cream cheese and sour cream (I creamed the cream cheese and sour cream together first to help everything blend easily). But, the next day, for some reason, after heating them up in the crock pot, they just didn't taste as well. I added a little milk cuz they were real solid, mixed in the butter which was way too much, added some raw garlic and more oregano and they were just okay. The really weird thing is, a few days later we heated the leftovers up in the crock pot and once again they were absolutely delicious albeit sinfully fattening. I don't think I would make these again.....I think I could make equally delicious mashed potatoes without so many rich and fattening ingredients. BTW, I made chicken noodle soup with the liquid the potatoes cooked in and it came out fantastic!

Best mashed potatoes ever! The potatoes are extremely moist. And I love how versitile the recipe is. You can add any seasoning and flavors you like, it's pretty much idiot proof.

We would give this 4 1/2 stars really. Very tasty! We added a ton more garlic though. "Slow Cooker" is a bit deceiving though. You do everything the way you normally would but now to throw it in a slow cooker to keep it warm - now you've dirtied up another dish! If you're pressed for time I guess this is a good recipe.

I used regular potatoes because that is what I bought originally. We cut them up and left the skins on. I have to tell you that the family went nuts and said they will never have any other kind of mashed potatoes again! These are going in my favorite folder! Thanks for sharing

I have made these twice now (Thanksgiving and Christmas) and everyone raved about them both times! The potatoes are very easy to make and the best part is that they are done early. I've made them with red potatoes and this last time with a mix of new potatoes and yukon gold because that's what I had. Great with any potato probably. I do use a little more butter than the recipe calls for and I leave the skin on. So yummy!!

I did not peel the potatoes, I think that the skin provides a great texture and color. These were the best mashed potatoes that I have ever eaten! The cat is out of the bag...I will never be able to get away with instant mashed potatoes again!!!

Perfect mashed potatoes. Tried it with regular russet potatoes and it came out just fine. Doubled the recipe for Christmas dinner and it was completely gone. Great made ahead recipe.

If there was a way to rate these a 10 I would! These are absolutely the best mashed potatoes in the entire world. I have cooked these in a pot, without having time to slow cook them, and they still turn out amazing. The best way is to slow cook them, but either way, this recipe is the BEST! I make these for every holiday, and get nothing but great compliments. Thanks for sharing such a yummy dish!!
