This is one of the best recipes I have ever come across. Honestly, make it like the recipe says or make a few adjustments, and it will still taste as great. WARNING if you want it to be a huge let down, use green enchilada sauce instead of red. This is awesome!! I make it rather often now because everyone loves it so much!

This was really good! I made it for my family and I doubled the recipe. My family is not a fan of anything spicy (I am) so you might want to cut down the chili powder and chilis. This is even better the next day, it just soaks up the spices. Sooooo good and very easy to make!

This soup is unbelievably good! I made it without altering any of the instructions or ingredients and it was perfect. There are only a few recipes that when you come across them you know instantly you are going to put them in the family recipe book... this is one of them. We ate the entire thing in one night and wished there was more!

This soup was very good. I was short on time, so I used a can of Costco's canned chicken (drained) and you couldn't even tell it was canned. I also added a can of black beans(drained and rinsed). Shredded Mexican cheese blend and store bought tortilla chips on top were the finishing touch. This was so quick to throw together in the morning before work. Thanks.

very good tortilla soup! as other suggested, i put the chicken in raw and let it cook with the soup. with about an hour to go, i shredded the chicken and added cooked brown rice - a must. served with lime juice, chopped avacados, green onions, cilantro, cheddar, and sour cream. my fiance loved it!

This recipie is very easy to make and stretches far. My husband is always requesting it, it is definately one of his favorites. The only thing I can is garnish the top with the baked tortia chips along with chopped avocado, it really adds something! Enjoy... :)

For how easy this soup is to make, it is incredibly delicious! The tortilla chips were also really fun to make (and easy) and tasted great. I highly recommend giving this one a try... it will surely be one of your favorites. :)

This was DELICIOUS! I took tips from other reviewers: TIP #1: Use 3 frozen chicken breasts, shred when 1 hour left. TIP #2: Dice up 5 tortillas and add to the beginning for flavor and to thicken the soup. TIP #3: Add 1 can of black beans and 1 can of kidney beans. TIP #4: Omit the water, just use 3 cups Chicken Broth. This will definitely be a staple recipe at my house :) Made lots so prepare to freeze some!

My husband and I are picky eaters and we both LOVE this soup. I have made it for dinner parties and am told it rivals most Mexican restaurants. I use fresh parsley instead of cilantro as a personal preference. I garnish with a little sour cream, shredded cheese and tortilla strips. A real winner.

Best Soup Ever! I love mexican food, and I loved this. My wife loved it and my guests loved it. I'm making it again this weekend. I put the chicken breasts in the pot, added some red pepper flakes to add a little more spice to it, and I also substituted the 2 cups of water with chicken broth as suggested by other reviewers. Grade A soup!

Just ok...I followed everyone's advice on letting the chicken cook in the crock pot. It was a little too spicy for my taste and overall just an ok soup. It was easy, but I probably wouldn't make this again.

This is a great soup! I will definitely do this again. I forgot to put this in the crock pot and ended up making it on the stove and it was still incredible, very flavorful.

If I could give this 7 stars I would. I did use frozen chicken breast, let cook with liquid ingredients, shredded and added rest. I also added 1/2 cup water with a T of cornstarch at the end. I like my tortilla soup a bit thickened though.

Awesome easy recipe. I use frozen raw chicken breasts and just throw them into the crockpot w/ other ingredients. It shreds up nicely. I also add carrots and celery, cooked brown rice at the end, top w/ montery jack cheese, avocado, and some store bought tortilla chips! So good!!!

Great soup!! I made it on the stove because I'd forgotten it was a slow cooker recipe, and it still turned out great. Can't wait to do it in the crock-pot!!!

Delicious and very easy to make! I added a can of black beans (we love them and add them to lots of dishes) and used store-bought tortilla chips. We also chopped up a fresh avocado and added some to each bowl along with shredded cheese and a dab of sour cream. The additions definitely added to the fat/calorie count, but they were well worth it!
