Very easy to make and tasted good but wasn't what I was looking for. I thought of it like a Spanish style veggie soup. Not spicy at all either.

I absolutely LOVE this recipe, although I do make a few minor changes - I don't add the water, instead I add two cans of the chicken broth and two cans of the enchilada sauce and I also add a can of black beans. Yummy!

What a wonderful and simple soup to make. The author is right, don't let the long list of ingredients fool you! I'm overseas and don't have access to enchilada sauce so I substituted some salsa. I also just used a back of corn chips, but otherwise I followed the recipe closely and it was so yummy! Thanks for the recipes, we'll keep this one!

The good thing about this recipe is that it's relatively healthy. The bad part is that it's a really strange tasting chicken tortilla soup. It seems to be missing something in the flavor department.

Good soup. I'm usually not a big fan of buying anything in a can so I was not sure how this would turn out since I prefer the freshest ingredients. The soup was good and I will make it again. I doubled it and the only thing I might change is not putting the corn in at the beginning. I used frozen corn and I will add it at the very end next time or used can corn. It was SUPER EASY so I will make it exactly like the recipe again as well as taking some advice to change out the enchilada sauce with fresh peppers. I had friends that LOVED it, so maybe I am just a bit of a food snob. I enjoyed it very much though.

I really can't get over how wonderful this is! I used a rotisserie chicken and pulled the meat off of the bone before adding it to the soup. Store bought tortilla chips worked just fine with a dollop of sour cream when serving. Next time I will add black beans for additional veggie yumminess.

This was really tasty. I do agree more broth should be added and I also substituted broth for water. I used a mild enchilada sauce and it was just the perfect kick. As others suggested, I added beans, kidney beans.

I tried this recipe and it's GREAT. I did make a couple of changes though/ I substituted the broth and water with chicken stock. And used rotisserie chicken from Costco. And I added a can of black beans. My family loves it. I will definitely be cooking this again as well as sharing it with others. Thank you for the great recipe.

This is a great recipe--it's easy to make, tasty, and there's plenty to share! I adapted a few things to make it easier on myself--instead of buying the tomatoes and chilies separately I used two cans of Rotel, and as recommended by others I bought a bag of tortilla chilps and put my chicken breasts in the crockpot frozen. Took it to a tailgate party before our son's football game and everyone loved it! Thanks for sharing this recipe on allrecipes.com!!

this was an excellent soup. i used a combo of all the reviews i've read and used: one 32oz box chicken stock instead of water and stock, added 1 can black beans, 1 green bell pepper and added frozen chicken breasts. freezes very well and makes great leftovers!!

This was good - but I was expecting more after all of the reviews. I couldn't find the right oz specification of enchilada sauce, so mine had more than the recipe called for, and perhaps that was the problem. The recipe appealed to me because of the ease of throwing everything in the crockpot- and I MAY make it again. I may also look for another recipe. It was good, just not great.

This soup was really good. I think more broth is needed, so I will add more liquid next time. I used chicken thighs and cooked them in the soup and they were so flavorful and juicy. Yum! I also pureed the whole tomatos to make a smoother soup. (My kids and husband will eat veggies but only if they can't see the "chunks"). Overall a very flavorful soup.

Huge hit in our house! I used hot ortega chiles for little spicer feel and added one can of drained kidney beans with 1cup of Mexican velvetta cheese all melting so deliciously. Also Im a big garlic lover and used 4 cloves with some celery salt. For additional topings had a some bowl of extra cilantro and onion to go with chip! ;oP

A very easy reipe and our new family favorite dinner! My five year old is a little picky, but she ate it well. Serve with some warm cornbread and it is a perfect fall dinner.

This was an excelent soup. I think women like to say the name, men pretend like they dont know what it is, but when I make this everyone goes back for seconds..............Hmmmm. I'de bet if they re-named Quiche and started calling it scrambled egg pie more people around here would be eating it. I have made my own chips and used store bought, either works fine. I have used home made enchilada suace as well as store bought and the home made is better, if you have the time and ingredients and don't mind the extra mess. I have also added black beans with good results. I like to serve with sour cream and a lime wedge.

We love tortilla soup, but this just didn't have the right spice for us. Not bad just wasn't what we were looking for.

This soup was phenomenal! I used chicken broth and a little water (I didn't have quite enough broth to use all broth) and added some black beans too! Like other reviewers, I put the chicken right in the crock pot instead of cooking beforehand and that worked great! It didn't cook for long enough because of a power outage and still turned out wonderfully!

So yummy! Avocado and tortilla strips on top are a must. I added the chicken frozen and shredded it when the soup was almost done. Froze well too!
