This soup is so easy and so good. I highly recommend. Tok advise of others and used raw chicken breasts and shredded it before serving..It basically fell apart anyway. Used store bought tortilla chips. Please don't leave out the sour cream if you can allow for the extra calories. Next time i may stir some low fat sour crean right into the soup after cooking.I dolloped mine on top of each bowl and we just ended up mixing it in anyway. Super delicious

This is the best soup ever! My husband asks for it every week, and I have had several people ask me for the recipe. Love it!

This was so easy and sooo good. Used store bought tortillas and frozen boneless, chicken breasts still frozen. Topped with a squeeze of lime, chips and cilantro. I will make this again and again!!

Great family pleaser and easy, easy, easy. Used mild enchilada sauce due to small children and had just enough spice without taking away from the soup. Yum!

Could anyone give me a recipe for the shredded, cooked chicken? I'm new to this stuff & would really appreciate it!

My family really enjoyed this soup. Great for a chilly Fall dinner. I used uncooked boneless chicken thighs instead of breasts, a 15 oz. can of enchilada sauce, hot green chile peppers which added alot of heat, chicken broth(no H2O)and black beans. I also added a can of fire roasted tomatoes instead of whole tomatoes, for extra flavor. I served this with avocado, sour cream(a MUST to cool the heat from the peppers) and bagged tortilla chips which were perfect (and easy!) I would take other readers suggestions and add the corn closer to the end of cooking so it would retain its flavor. This is definitely a Keeper!!!

Very easy to make and tasted good but wasn't what I was looking for. I thought of it like a Spanish style veggie soup. Not spicy at all either.

I absolutely LOVE this recipe, although I do make a few minor changes - I don't add the water, instead I add two cans of the chicken broth and two cans of the enchilada sauce and I also add a can of black beans. Yummy!

What a wonderful and simple soup to make. The author is right, don't let the long list of ingredients fool you! I'm overseas and don't have access to enchilada sauce so I substituted some salsa. I also just used a back of corn chips, but otherwise I followed the recipe closely and it was so yummy! Thanks for the recipes, we'll keep this one!

The good thing about this recipe is that it's relatively healthy. The bad part is that it's a really strange tasting chicken tortilla soup. It seems to be missing something in the flavor department.

Good soup. I'm usually not a big fan of buying anything in a can so I was not sure how this would turn out since I prefer the freshest ingredients. The soup was good and I will make it again. I doubled it and the only thing I might change is not putting the corn in at the beginning. I used frozen corn and I will add it at the very end next time or used can corn. It was SUPER EASY so I will make it exactly like the recipe again as well as taking some advice to change out the enchilada sauce with fresh peppers. I had friends that LOVED it, so maybe I am just a bit of a food snob. I enjoyed it very much though.

I really can't get over how wonderful this is! I used a rotisserie chicken and pulled the meat off of the bone before adding it to the soup. Store bought tortilla chips worked just fine with a dollop of sour cream when serving. Next time I will add black beans for additional veggie yumminess.

This was really tasty. I do agree more broth should be added and I also substituted broth for water. I used a mild enchilada sauce and it was just the perfect kick. As others suggested, I added beans, kidney beans.

I tried this recipe and it's GREAT. I did make a couple of changes though/ I substituted the broth and water with chicken stock. And used rotisserie chicken from Costco. And I added a can of black beans. My family loves it. I will definitely be cooking this again as well as sharing it with others. Thank you for the great recipe.

This is a great recipe--it's easy to make, tasty, and there's plenty to share! I adapted a few things to make it easier on myself--instead of buying the tomatoes and chilies separately I used two cans of Rotel, and as recommended by others I bought a bag of tortilla chilps and put my chicken breasts in the crockpot frozen. Took it to a tailgate party before our son's football game and everyone loved it! Thanks for sharing this recipe on allrecipes.com!!
