I have made this soup a few times and I love it. My kids, husband & friends rave about how good it is. I use chicken broth instead of the beer sometimes and it is just as good. I also use canned pinto beans instead of the chili beans. Delicious!!!

Followed recipe to the tee. Husband loved it. Leftovers were flavorful. Put extra in the freezer for a night where a quick and satisfying meal is needed.

This recipe has been a fantastic addition to our dinner menus. We love it. I replace the beer w/water instead. I have many girlfriends and coworkers who have used this recipe and loved it, too. We just keep passing it on! Thanks Patti for the delicious, easy and inexpensive dinner!

Very delicious & satisfying. We did add more cumin but that is the beauty of this recipe -- gives you a great dish you can fine-tune to your taste. A dash of seasoning salt on each serving seems to bring out the flavours. An instant family favourite and one that will be made again and again! Thx for this terrific recipe.

I used 2 cans of black beans instead of the chili beans. I also used a larger can of tomato sauce. I used one can of diced tomatoes and one can of Rotel. I used chicken broth instead of beer. I also put about 5 whole tortilla chips in the bottom of the bowl, topped with half an avocado sliced, then some shredded cheese. After that your pour the soup on top of it. Then I added a dot of sour cream and cilantro. It was very good and filling. I made homemade salsa to go along with it!

It's still cooking, but I stole a taste when I shredded the chicken and it's AMAZING. I don't know if I can wait another 2 hours...

Awesome! My husband talked about this soup for 3 days! We will definitely keep this on the regular rotation, since it's filling, fast, and quite healthy. Thank you!

I love this recipe and so does everyone I make it for. My husband hates beans so I make it with green and red bell peppers and corn, and I make my own taco seasoning to be Gluten-free. Other than that this is awesome!

This was easy and has a wonderful taste. It is almost thick enough to put on taco shells if you want to. When I took it to work for lunch, the aroma was so wonderful my co-workers all wanted to try it. I used Bill Echol's Taco Seasoning I for the spices. I don't like the sodium in packaged taco mix.

This turned out yummy! My boyfriend likes his food super spicey so i made sure i put extra spices in it. I used Ranch style and black beans and doubled the recipe as well. I did use the beer, wasn't sure what kind to use so i figured I couldn't go wrong with Stella. Topped it off with some cheese, sour cream and cut up an avocado.

This was an instant family favorite, even my really picky 19 month old liked the beans in it. I made it exactly like the recipe except added 2 chicken bouillon cubes to it. This was the easiest time I've ever had shredding chicken. Fantastic!!! Thanks.

So easy and so delicious! I did omit the beer and added more chicken broth. Also used a package of Ol El Paso taco seasoning, worked perfect. Only problem was that I didn't have enough leftovers...everyone asked for seconds!!! Thank you for sharing.

I browned a pound of ground beef in place of the chicken. That way it only needs to cook for an hour on the stove so all the flavors blend together, rather than making it an all day event. I also added a package of chili seasoning IN ADDITION to the taco seasoning. Of course I dumped a ton of Tabaso and Crystal hot sauce in it for spice. It came out REALLY good!

I thought this had great flavor. I made it without any changes and it was great. I loved it with the sour cream and cheese on top, so the the next time I made it I added 8 oz. of cream cheese at the end and it was very good. Thanks for the post I will be making it again.

Patti, thanks for the Bill Echols Taco Seasoning recipe. I tripled the recipe to have extra in the pantry to use as an easy every day seasoning. Despite other reviews, I did add an imported bottle of beer and did not find that it gave the soup a bitter taste. I'm making the soup again today and will add a few chipotle peppers, but I think the recipe is very tasty as it is.

We made this recipe exactly as stated. It was wonderful, just a little spicy for us. Next time I will add half plain diced tomatoes and half with peppers.
