My husband and I loved this. Based on other reviews, here are the tweaks I made. Used butter instead of margarine, only half of the dry Italian mix, and only half of the cream cheese. I added some pepper, lemon pepper, parsley, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning to make up for not using all of the dry Italian mix. Some othe other reviews said that it was too salty so that is why I didn't use it all. I added some sauteed onions at the end just to kick it up a notch! I tossed the egg noodles in the crock pot (about 2/3 of a bag) when it was ready to serve. For step one, I melted the butter and combined the Italian mix before putting the chicken in. For step two, I cooked it for about an hour. We will definitely make this again. My husband and I both rated this about 8 out of 10 which is very high on our scale!

OK, I didn't have chicken; so I used some boneless pork chops. And I didn't have Italian dressing mix, so I used Lipton's beefy onion soup mix. I tossed the cubed meat in a ziploc with the soup mix, and put it in the crockpot with a few pats of butter, and went to Walmart. When I got home, the house smelled fantastic, and I used half of the called for cream cheese and about half a cup of sour cream, while that was warming I made a tossed salad; cooked noodles, and browned a loaf of French bread. Both myself and my husband loved this recipe--I will most certainly be making this again! It was a simple tasty meal that was perfect for todays cold New Years Day weather.

GI had to keep adding water to it and it still wasn't good. The cream cheese over powers everything. Maybe heavy cream or less cream cheese would have worked better.

This is so yummy! I followed the directions as stated but I only added 1/2 of the salad dressing mix knowing I could always add more later, if needed. I also only used 2 chicken breasts and shredded them when when it was time to add the cream cheese and soup, rather than cube them. This dinner was so easy and even my picky 4-year-old ate it up! I used 1/3 less fat cream cheese and next time I will try it with fat-free cream cheese as well as the healthier soup to see how it turns out!

Awesome! So easy! Although it says so liquid I added about a cup of chicken brother to the chicken. I feel it would have burned without it.

It may not be fair to rate this recipe since I altered it to my personal taste and based on other reviews. I needed the ingredient amounts and cooking time. I sauteed 3 garlic gloves, 1/2 chopped onion and 8 oz sliced mushrooms. Adding this plus 1/2 cp white wine and 1/2 cup sour cream during the last hour of cooking. Salt and pepper to taste. With this conversion, the recipe is a keeper, IMHO

I couldn't give it 5 stars only because I didn't make it "as is" based on so many reviews.....in the beginning added about 1/4 cup of chicken stock with butter and mild italian dressing mix. Towards the end, I added a garlic/herb cream cheese which, I believe, kicked it up a little in the flavor dept - served with sauteed spinach and french bread -

I made this last week for the first time. My family really liked it a lot. I added some vegetables from a bag of frozen mixed blend towards the end of the cooking time. I also did not put in the cream cheese but instead added a few tablespoons of sour cream. Who would have thought that dry salad dressing mix would create such a yummy dinner!

I love this recipe!! Make it the way stated and you won't be dispointed...it has a completely different flavor compared to other chicken slow cooker recipes. It has a roasted chicken flavor by cooking the chicken in the butter and dressing mix. Don't stray and put the soup in in the beginning or you'll end up with a standared slow cooker recipe.

I made this for my family last night and it was wonderful! I just exchanged chicken breast for boneless chicken thighs. I left everything else the same and it was yummy! Served over egg noodles. My 3 toddlers loved it as well. Very easy to make. Thank you!

Easy and very good. It had alot of flavor. It was quite rich as some had reviewed. Maybe next time I will cut the cream chesse in half. But all in all....very good...lots of sauce and the chicken literally fell apart. I only had to cook on low 4 hours but it was done before then.

This was yummy! I put whole chicken breasts in the crockpot frozen (just defrosted a few minutes in microwave, but they were still hard), sprinkled them with the italian dressing and put a few pats of soft margarine in with them. Once they were cooked (probably about 5 to 6 hours), I shredded them with a fork and knife. Then added the cream cheese and soup (I used Cream of Chicken with Herbs). I had to add some paprika, pepper and some italian herbs (was a little bland to me). I also added about a 1/2 a can of milk to make it more like a gravy. I served it over noodles and everybody loved it! I will definitely make this again.

Loved this! Followed a couple of other reviews and added white wine and the cream of chicken soup at the beginning. I also had a few mushrooms and chopped onion on hand which I threw in with the cream cheese. Delicious addition ..next time I'll add more.

What a nice surprise!! When I tasted chicken prior to adding soup/cream cheese, I was not impressed - it was just so/so. Once I added everything and served over egg noodles - it was great! So easy and tasty. Thanks for sharing!

I have one caveat to this review, and that is that tossing the chicken with the Italian dressing mix is great and works very well. If you stop there, this is a great recipe. I've just started cooking with my crock pot and made this recipe after reading all the positive reviews and was extremely disappointed. It is quite bland and what flavor is there tastes is just cheap processed yuck. Also the texture is horrible, very slimy. I think this is from the condensed chicken soup, which is a disagreeable flavor and texture on it's own.
