This was okay but not as good as my usual stew recipe.

Absolutely amazing! I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out fantastic! My whole family loved this and I will never go back to making beef stew any other way. The flavor of this stew is unique and very hearty.

I loved this!!! The flavors were spot on. Cooking the onions until soft really improves the flavor. The only thing I added was 1/2 cup sun dried tomatoes (in oil, but removed oil) that I cut up into thin strips.Thank you Rosie!!!!!

This is a great lazy day around the house meal. It is really tasty but next time I will leave out the onion soup mix and just add beef broth. The sautee onion part was awesome, as was the wine. It really gave this stew a great taste.

My husband and I really enjoyed the stew. Don't brown the meat too much or it will become tough. I did not add the red wine as I am pregnant. Next time I would add frozen corn and beans for more veggies.

GREAT recipe. I'm not a big stew person. I did this per my husbands request and ended up liking it. Thanks again.

I scaled this down to serve 4 (we're a family of 2 + toddler) and it was not enough! Next time I will half the recipe. I also used beef broth instead of water. Served with fresh french bread and it was excellent. Will definitely make again. Great winter stew recipe.

Awesome! I used 1.5 lbs meat and 1 onion. I used 1 can of beef broth instead of water. I used Merlot for the wine. I also used beefy onion soup mix.

This recipe is incredible! I'm glad I took time to read through the reviews. In the end, I added some extra seasoning in the flour mixture, extra garlic, and beef stock instead of water. The deglazing is really what makes the flavour in this recipe. I cooked it on high for five hours and it was falling apart and so tender. Awesome! I didn't need to thicken the recipe at the end either; it turned out just fine!

I'm always on the hunt for a good stew. This one far exceeds any other that I have tried. I am officially not looking anymore. There were only 3 of us for this meal so I thought I would freeze and save or take it for lunch. After all, the recipe states that it serves 12. Too bad, there were no leftovers.

Tasty. Made a few changes, as I always do. Use 2 lbs of meat instead of 3, 3/4 cup merlot instead of a 1/4 c), added 1 packet Montreal Steak seasoning some to the the flour and the rest to the stew itself (if you add this.. you can eliminate the pepper). I also added a few shots of worcestershire sauce and 2 bay leaves. Oh, I also only used the powder from the onion soup mix not the dried onions (use the beefy onion soup mix, gives it a little extra beef flavor). Threw it in crock pot for 8 hours, yummy!!! Thanks Rosie!!!

This stew is excellent!! I made very few substitutions (rare for me) - used beef stock instead of water, and added about 1.5 tbsp of Montreal steak seasoning to coating flour (replacing S&P and dried herbs/onion soup mix). Browning the meat made all the difference. I put everything in the pot in late evening, and had an excellent meal by morning. I refrigerated the gravy separately so I could separate the fat. I am making it again this weekend, for company.

I have never in my life made beef stew before.. I am just not a big beef fan.. but I decided to give this a whirl to please my boyfriend.. and, I can't lie-- it was YUMMY. We used just super cheap 'Beef Stew' Beef Chunks, and the meat came out *so* tender and delicious. Packed the pot full of veggies as well. Super yummy! My boyfriend enjoyed it even better the next day for lunch! Used white wine instead of red.. because that's all we had around... but it came out fantastically. Adding this to me ever-growing rolodex of awesome CrockPot recipes!

This was perfect the first time I made it and I didn't change a thing. It's the only beef stew I make now and I've been making it for a couple years now. The only thing I consistently change is adding beef broth instead of water and putting in celery. Thanks so much!!!

My whole family loved this recipe! Even my picky 4 yr old ate most of hers. I changed a few things in this recipe, but not much. I didn't use the cilantro and used beef broth instead of the red wine and water, because I didn't have the wine on hand.

GREAT! DELICIOUS! A huge hit! Followed the recipe exactly except for adding the flour in the end to thicken. It was plenty thick without that.

I followed this recipe almost to the letter and it was delicious. I threw in some frozen green beans and peas. My only problem is it wasn't enough food to feed my 3 large teenage boys, boyfriend and the unexpected friend that stopped by. So saying it's 12 servings?? Guess it depends on your eaters. Next time I will double it because we would have loved to have had leftovers. Other than that it was very good.
